There's lots of replicas coming out of Chinese shops so decent chance those NOS watches are fakes.
You ought to do an intro thread before the intro hounds jump you for posting out of the blue.

Normally i am a big Seko fanboy.
but, after buying a SBDX009 limited Edition Landmaster i have problems with Seiko and Le´s.

Why? The tube is threaded. Mailing for 3 weeks with Seiko JP and they just told me no parts available and no chance to repair it.
That is the difference to a really big player like Omega. You can send it a 40 years old Speedmaster and they can do everything.
Hope,no one will happen that with the 6159 reissue.

Martin, that sucks and I totally understand. Last resort would be to have a tube/crown from another watch installed.

I'd expect that from Doxa, not Seiko. After seeing a GS with corroded hands due to their cheap coating failing after a couple years, and the owner being told "tough shit", I'm a bit off of high-end Seikos.

I'll stick with Rolex.

Yup. They don't have spare parts. This is a huge concern for anyone buying higher end Seikos. I had a LE sbbn029 tuna that had a stripped case thread for the crown. They told me it would cost 10K to get a new case. They essentially would have to manufacture one. :bootyshake:

Well that's a huge turn-off. Nothing like buying a multi-thousand dollar watch and not having any spare parts for it when it breaks. I wonder if they have any for the SLA017?

I've seen some loose dials here and there, but chances are once modders buy whatever stock there is, that's it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

This looks nice, but I have to wonder why Seiko manages to put an applied logo on a $100 Seiko 5 but can't put one on a multi thousand dollar re-issue of a watch that originally had an applied logo. I almost didn't buy my SBDX019 because of it and here's another one with a printed logo..

I agree wholeheartedly. A lot of higher end brands are guilty of this and I’m seeing it more often. It’s being cheap and lazy or a combo of both

That's extremely disheartening to hear. As of today my SLA017 is my only watch, but this gives me real pause.

Seems like even high-end Seiko watches are basically disposable. I just read in another tread that the Marine Master may have been discontinued. I guess I should start thinking about having my SBDX001 serviced while I still can.

I don't like Seiko s thinking and doing the last years....

Discontinuing iconics
And producing reissues with very high prices :(

If only they realized the value of having/making replacement parts for their gs/prospex lines.

That’s a new model too! Crazy

I knew it was bad but not that bad. I suspect the MM300 might have a decade+ worth of parts If it really is discontinued and not an updated “X”logo. Knowing the way GS/Seiko has worked on back stock is why I’ve always gravitated toward the flagship Sbge001, Sbga029, Sbdx001 as they’ve stood the test of time and likely have an inventory of parts.

But now that you mention it it does make sense that you’re SOL on LE parts stock. Shame because I was really looking into getting that new 7c46 golden tuna LE.

I hope that as part of Seiko's attempts to grow its audience outside of Japan + its attempts to go upmarket will cause it to have a parts policy closer to Rolex or Omega.

In the specific case of the MM300, given that it has has been around for so long, there should be a good amount of parts donors.

Expensive donor. I’d imagine there’s a good amount of service parts available.

Occasionally I look for 6139 parts on eBay but my complete 6139 movement plus a couple vital sealed NOS parts cost me <$250 and should help in keeping her running for awhile.

I wonder if eventually this will happen with current Seikos in the future?

I do know on some of the original MM's Seiko had extra cases because they replaced them when they stripped out. So do have some parts it seems.

At this rate their run of the mill divers with misaligned chapter rings and Asian pube dials will be running 2k.

Just goes to show you can’t catch lightning in a bottle and expect it to happen twice. The 62MAS reissue was the best recreational Seiko diver they’ve made, if you ask me. This SLA025 is way too big.

I’m honestly getting confused with Seiko’s tier of quality and pricing.
I used to know what watch was a (used market) $200 Seiko- SKXxxx, a $500 Seiko- Sumo, $700- Shogun, and the MM300 which used to be $1500-$2000 But now cheaper.
Now all the new ones have price increase and I don’t know what quality of tier they are in. And don’t get me started on the X on the dial...
