Seiko seems pretty intent on keeping that dreaded logo around.

My JDM guy says these aren't jdm serial numbers. He's not sure where they will be available.

Same here. I'm assuming there will be a JDM version, like there was with the SLA017/SBDX019, but until we know what the JDM model # is my guy can't take a reservation. I guess at this point they're not even sure there will be a JDM version, but I can't imagine them doing a 6159 re-issue and excluding Japan. I have an email into Seiko, but the response was not to expect a response until after 1/5/18, and even then I'm not holding my breath for an actual answer.

If you look at the MM300 it's a gold pip, second hand, and "300m" lettering.
And my reasoning behind it was when I got in early on the SBDX012 the silicon strap keeper and buckle was also Gold. This is clearly SS
Could work well but can only imagine it currently... If I were in a position to buy currently in my non-gun buying state, I'd say go for it regardless.

That is exactly like the 6159 caseback. Not stepped like the SBDX version.

^^^That thing is making me sweat. Weird no one knows the JDM model yet?
I pinged Joe and he’s starting a wait list, in case the Miami Boutique gets it.

Yup. I'm out as it'll probably have long lugs as well
+1..Big fail
Why the h.ll do companies do reissues in ridiculous sizes. The Hamilton Intramatic reverse panda is 42mm with no bezel. Looks gorgeous. Would wear huge. If that thing was 38-40mm it’d be flying off shelves. I don’t get it. Does no one do focus groups? No vintage collector would advise larger than the original 43.6mm with the reissue on this beautiful watch!

I know everyone keeps talking about the size, but the original is pretty close to the size of the reissue. The original has to be at least 44mm, (just looked it up @ 43.8mm) but even at that size it wears more like a 42mm watch. I have a 7" wrist it's one of the most comfortable watches I own. Much more comfortable than the MM300. Also the original price of the 6159-7001 was crazy high at the time of the release (38,000 yen, which is about $2400 is today's USD), but was even higher in Japan due to the exchange rate. This is one I'll definitely be keep my eye on.

I agree. The 44mm size is measuring the case bulge, like with a Doxa. The bezel is probably around 42mm.

Odd that while he mentions some of the aspects of how the SLA025 are closer to the original than the SBDX003 AND SBDX012, he doesn't even mention that it's a completely new case that is very close to the original.

Height was my biggest complaint with the MM, and I’m cautiously optimistic the SLA025 wears true to the 6159 as you all describe it. I’m still kicking myself for not catching Matt’s.

I sold that one to Matt, and it's kind of the one that got away, but I'm just really not a vintage guy. Vintage re-issues, yes, actual vintage, no.

The 6159 on ebay right now is up to 6200.00 with 8 days left... It's supposed to be NIB. Looks like it. The reissue price might be better...

If legit, that thing should go for a lot more than the current bids. Also, would these have been sold on a tropic strap?

From what I've been told, many things with Seiko were pretty random at this time period. I've seen most original 6159's on the 731 "tire tread", but also a few on the chocolate bar style strap, including one that was extra long and orange in color. So I guess anything is possible.
