Seems he put in some work I'm not particularly fond of (1000m dial -- i dislike dials that don't meet the actual rating), but what I found intriguing is that he had fit a 7C46 into a 6309, meaning it could likely be done with a modern Turtle, or possibly 6r15.
I'm wondering if it could be done in the <$600 range? (thinking turtle) If so, it would be a great alternative to the Tuna, although the Tuna is turn-key but still more. I've been preaching for YEARS (you read me Seiko?) that the venerable 7C46 should be offered in more than the Tuna line, vs their spotty <8L35 movement offerings.

You can fit the 7548/7546 and Pulsar Y513 all in the 6309 case. I built a few of them a few years back. The 7c46 is to expensive to use on this mod. We use to call it a 6309/7548 hybrid.

I had no idea.
So where can you get these movements including the 7c46?

Thats what I did also. YOu can get a Y513 Pulsar (seiko made the movement) and drop it in. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... 3&_sacat=0
Or a 7546 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat= ... 546&_frs=1
