Speed up your 7s26/4r36/6r15
I've tried this on a 6r15 watch that constantly loses time and it definitely worked. It's easier than setting the watch fast again anyway.

Ugh more goofy Seiko quirks. This stuff is why I can't take this brand seriously anymore.
Sorry a bit salty still. Only they can make watches of all prices and put a novelty toy of a movement in all of them.

I think the MM300 and up are significantly different from the 6r15 and below stuff.Torrid wrote:Ugh more goofy Seiko quirks. This stuff is why I can't take this brand seriously anymore.

Agree! I'm wondering if this would work on non Seiko movements. Don't have any or I'd try just to see.hoppyjr wrote:I think the MM300 and up are significantly different from the 6r15 and below stuff.Torrid wrote:Ugh more goofy Seiko quirks. Edit...Just remembered I have one with a Miyota 9015. Next time I wear it I'll test this. Anybody want to try a Swiss to see?

Unfortunately I didn't have a positive experience with that one either.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2017 2:37 pmI think the MM300 and up are significantly different from the 6r15 and below stuff.Torrid wrote:Ugh more goofy Seiko quirks. This stuff is why I can't take this brand seriously anymore.

That's not a quirk of cheap Seiko movements; that'll work with most any mechanical movement.
You're simply forcing the balance wheel to complete its swings to and fro faster than it would if left unperturbed.

That seems like a sure fire way to crack impulse jewels in my book! I deal with RR pocket watches as I am a collector and sell quite a few and I have seen quite a few of folks do this to start them up after winding the mainspring barrel and you can bet the impulse jewels aren't long for this world.

This is old news. Way back in the early days of PMWF there was a video where someone did this with a 2824.

Speaking of Seiko movements is it really true the 4R36 movements are less finicky? I still want a NAFT. I already have a couple of G-Shocks for work duty so it wouldn't be doing everything like the MM300 was for me. I just don't think Seiko can be my only watch.

Just from my experience, which seems like it's been similar to yours, the 4R has been much more reliable. All 3 NAFTS I've owned have not deviated from +/-3Torrid wrote:Speaking of Seiko movements is it really true the 4R36 movements are less finicky? I still want a NAFT. I've only had one 4R36 and it was one of my more accurate Seikos. I am still tempted by it.r.palace wrote: ↑Sat Jul 15, 2017 10:25 amJust from my experience, which seems like it's been similar to yours, the 4R has been much more reliable. For the price, it's a no brainer. They're my favorite cheap SeikoTorrid wrote:I've only had one 4R36 and it was one of my more accurate Seikos.
