New 37mm Quartz GS Looks Great

Post by JP Chestnut » Thu Jul 06, 2017 6:51 pm

I just stumbled on this watch:
https://www.grand-seiko.jp/collections/SBGX267/

It seems to be new this year. I've been kicking around the idea of a small quartz GS for those times when rocking a Rolex is... a bit much. Being picky I had a bunch of requirements: quartz (I don't want to service a watch that gets used infrequently), made with the small/thin 37mm case, and an "interesting" white dial (either off white or textured). Looking through the GS back catalog I saw at least one textured dial, but nothing that seemed worth the hunt.

The SBGX267 has all those features, plus it's Ti and uses the "better" Speedmaster style bracelet like the more expensive GS models.

I think it's perfect for my usage. I contacted Chino, Higuchi, and Seiya. Is there anyone else I should hit up for a quote?

I'm a fan, though personally I feel it's screaming for a leather strap. Keep us posted as to how the purchase goes.

I have a short 19x16mm ABP Paris strap on its way. I'd probably wear this almost exclusively on strap, with this

That's a slick deployant. The buckle portion comes off and you can use it as a tang buckle. Perhaps not unique, but it's something all of them should offer.

But I'm not so sure about the Ti/Gold combo.

Looks fantastic.

Not sure it'll be GS quartz, but a Seiko Tuna or GS quartz may be my next watch. I miss my SBBN015 dearly for grab-and-go.

My Tuna is one of my best impulse buys ever. It gets a lot of wear.

I need a watch that I feel comfortable doing everything with. Including banging off stuff at the park with my daughter. The diashield tuna is perfect.

I miss my Tunas. If the new 62mas-ish release wasn't imminent, I'd pick up another one for the beach this summer. I'm pretty psyched for the new blue one, though.

Yeah, I drunkenly gave my 015 to a good friend but he's been enjoying it daily since, so I've always been comfortable in my decision, even if it was during a drunken state.

I think I'm going to save and hold out for a 7c46 Golden Tuna when the time comes. They seem to pop-up once a couple months or so, and my collection is bit pedestrian so I want a little flash-in-the-pan flavor.

I say do it.

No. It ticks like a Quartz. I'm also thinking about the SBGV009 LE. That's a good looking one as well.

I've received quotes on this white one from $2550 to $2850. This one isn't very cheap. At least the LE comes with both a strap and a bracelet.

Two recently sold for $2300 and $2700, I think, for silver and black. That's what got them on my radar.

I'm black dial heavy. I want something different.

I really like the white dial. You have a smaller wrist so I think it's perfect for you .

If I was looking for a nice dress watch with no bezel it would prob be the 41mm black bay-
