I'll be collecting my SLA 017 next month and the GM of the Seiko boutique was kind enough to snap some photos of the new Samurai 2017 collection and posted them to me.The more expensive SRPB 055 with a best seller potential hasnt arrived at the boutique yet. So here they are...ImageImageImageImageImageImage

I really like the textured dial. It's why I've held onto my white Sammie.

Have also always wanted a Ti Sammie.

The end links don't mesh at all looks wise as the rest of the bracelet. Another I'd have on straps.

I wish Seiko would put the 7C46 in watches like these instead of the 6R15 I've never had any luck with.

I wish they'd make a mm300 engined Tuna and not charge a fortune.

Really I'd love an 8l35 in any 40-42mm diver. There's obviously the SLA017, but I'm talking for MM300 money and not limited.

I know. Make a normal 40mm watch without any funky shit, stick in a 8l35, and sell it. I'm 100% fine with mm300 level finishing.

I'd have to imagine there's a market for something like this. Japan doesn't have the...biggest wristed people...and while there are GS dress offerings in this range, there's not a regular production high-end diver (to my knowledge) that doesn't have abnormally large specs.

I'm with you for the opposite reason, but they should offer both movements in both watches. If I could have the 7C46 in an MM300 I'd still be wearing one right now and would be my main watch. Autos and me obviously don't mix. I could get another Tuna but I've sold three for a reason now. I just still can't put my finger on exactly what it is.

As opposed to what?

If you mean something in the 46mm range and on bracelet I can see that, even though I actually prefer the 7C46 for all tunas.

I inquired on a SBDX014 in early May selling at $1650 which sold so they do come up, although they're the new hand versions, as the old Emperors became NOS overnight it seems and command a premium. I inquired just after trying on the SBDX014 at the NYC boutique and was keen being in the vacation spending mode, but it barely encompassed my 6.5" wrist (although still worked), and I was still willing to take that chance long-term at the price. I don't think you'd be able to pull it off give what we know about your noodle wrist so I certainly feel you on a 8L35 46mm version. If they did it in the OG Ti-nitride Gold I'd be in in half a second, because I think a quartz version isn't on the table in the foreseeable future.

Bottom line Seiko is missing the market on the following:

1) Mid range diver like the latest Samurai or the big 62mas here with a 7C46
2) Smaller MM300 8L35
3) Smaller Hi-Beat GS
4) Primo 8L35 tuna (in gold please!) We know you lurk, Seiko! :tap:

As apposed to all the Tunas with either quartz or SD movements, or the existing automatics... that cost a fortune. Not hard to decipher.

Edit.

I guess those who actually have the wrist for an emperor and proudly own one over paid.

So are these hard to come by? I did find the black dial and the DLC one, but I'm looking for the standard blue dial non Lagoon model. I'm in between picking a Samurai or the 773 blue NAFT.

The blue Pepsi is the US version and is easy to find. If you want the blue with grey bezel you'll have to head to eBay or a Japanese seller.

Yeah that's what I'm seeing. I might get the Pepsi since I like the look of the strap better.

Those seem to be the cheapest, which is a nice bonus. I like the blue with the grey bezel best. It will look great on a grey NATO.

Doesn't surprise me. Almost seems like they already burned the PADI look on the standard Pepsi if the idea was to be as close as possible to the PADI NAFT style. The Pepsi looks much better. It's likely the one I'd get if I picked up the Samurai.
