Well of course! That's the new trend these days 'cuz if it's expensive, then it must be good!

Re: Seiko at Basel
Some info:
"All previous GS models will be discontinued in April 2017. The new models will begin to replace the old ones as they come in. The styles with the SEIKO logo at 12:00 will sell through until the new stock replaces. Essentially model numbers will remain the same, +200. Example being the Snowflake SBGA011, now SBGA211.
No other design changes will occur except a few minor ones like the mentioned changing to 1 font for technical description. Also, the chronographs will all have logo placement at 11:00 instead of 12:00. Models like SBGE005 and 011 will have a longer 6:00 index to accommodate the empty space, but that is really about it. "

Let down by typical fuckery:

Re: Seiko at Basel
This is all quite disheartening. I hope they don't fuck with the SBGJ011 or -001 Hi-Beat models. I want to get one of those sometime in the near future.

Same here. I like the bigger size...Although I think the hands will need to be modded.dukerules wrote:It's pretty much inevitable that I'll buy one of the cheapo 62MAS redos.

There's a picture floating around showing updated versions of existing watches. The quartz looks really bad since it's
GS
Grand Seiko
A bunch of space.
The ones with a novel at 6 o'clock look better though.

Re: Seiko at Basel
I love me some GS, but like many have said here, I can't find one of these that I like. They're either completely boring reissues of things they've already done, or terrible attempts at new and cutting edge design.

Re: Seiko at Basel
I know people bitched about the branding, but now we have fancier boxes and higher prices. I want a GS and I want one that says "Seiko" because I like the low key assumption that it's a cheap watch.
I guess being a watch guy's stealth option wasn't where they wanted to be.

Stolen image:
Left hand is the new Snowflake. I like the new font for "Spring Drive", "Automatic", etc. The one with nothing at 6 o'clock looks unbalanced to me, but the PR on the Snowflake looks less bad on the more austere dial.

Re: Seiko at Basel
I still can't get over how disappointed I am in the 62MAS reissue. It's Seiko's own white gold Pepsi GMT fiasco. Feels like they totally pulled a Rolex - knew what everyone wanted and didn't care to make it accessible. I understand that the movement is the most premium aspect, but an SBDX017 is so much less. Not really vibing with the 43mm models either.

Re: Seiko at Basel
The MM300 isn't a limited edition of 2000 pieces. What part of limited edition suggests that the watch should be accessible?

Re: Seiko at Basel
Found these on WUS, but may be posted here in another thread. Not sure about the $800 for the blue and $1000 for the black prices I'm hearing, but assume that's msrp. If that's the going rate my Shogun will make forget these.
Re: Seiko at Basel
Several of the limited MM300 models of the past were also tough to get your hands on and priced well below while having the same movement. Take the SLA015 with the 8L35 for example - 200 pieces @ 2300 EUR. http://bit.ly/2nNpg0RJP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2017 11:39 amThe MM300 isn't a limited edition of 2000 pieces. This may be $800 on rubber, $1000 on bracelet. I think it would make more sense. Figure the typical discounts after the initial excitement and these are right in the ballpark.
I do with the non-LE had drilled lug holes like the LE does.

That's what I meant and should have clarified. I did think it had drilled lugs though, so if they don't that's a big miss on Seiko's part.
Here's a good link to all the the new divers, along with specs.

Re: Seiko at Basel
Those watches had a one off dial, handset, bezel. Is that the same as an entirely new watch? Of course not.mtpenate wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2017 12:26 pmSeveral of the limited MM300 models of the past were also tough to get your hands on and priced well below while having the same movement. Re: Seiko at Basel
Looks like the blue SPB053, according this site is $620.00 USD. However they have the model listed as SBDC053 ?
http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/seik ... KeR4P8Uj9A
They also have the black SPB051 at $775 USD. However again the model number shows different with SBDC051?
http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/seik ... ZWAUN52h8w
Both show as July 21, 2017 release dates though.
