Yep, it's definitely longer and I think that's why it looks so much bigger. It's going to be all about how it wears for me. I might actually be able to pick mine up tomorrow, so we'll see.
Mine shipped out yesterday. These photos make me apprehensive about the size, but hopefully it will wear ok. The Shogun was larger than I like, but wore very well on the wrist. Hopefully this is the same, although given that it is SS it will be much heavier than the Shogun.
Agreed on apprehension on the size. I plan on this to be a strictly weekend/casual watch so hopefully it works for that. Like you mention, the wrist shots I've seen (even on smaller wrists) don't make it look huge at all.

Pic from user jmanlay on WUS. I beleive 6.5" wrist.

I've been wearing the SLA017 on the bracelet for the past couple days to try it out.

I know the bracelet is a controversial aspect of the design, but I've come to appreciate how well fitted the end links are to the case.

There is zero gap between the case and perimeter of the end link.

Fitting the end link to match the case top might've been a visual improvement, but I'm coming to the opinion Seiko designed it as they did to show off the lug finishing.

Sorry for the crap cell phone pic

I like the bracelet. Does it taper at all?

It tapers only a tiny bit, from 19mm at the lugs to 18mm at the clasp. You can swap in a MM300 clasp if you'd like as it is a direct fit.

I suspect there could be other dealers with unsold stock, but most folks who shop there won't know what it is. Those who know what it is won't know to check those dealers.

With luck some could find unsold SLA017's a year from now, on sale for 20-30% off clearance. That would be nice.

Grabbed my 053 and it's...pretty nice. Q&D's before I start playing with straps.

62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch

Looks like a really long L2L. Only thing that saves the NAFT from being too big IMHO is the relatively short L2L.

Hard to tell from that picture, but it looks way longer than the sub.

I believe specs are a hair under 50mm and it def seems like it. Certainly doesn't feel huge on the wrist, though.

At the current rate, that seems unlikely. Or maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better about paying list.

List seems fine. Not sure this is the surefire moneymaker that people have claimed it will be though.

I know there was one that sold on eBay for $4,300 from a Hong Kong seller. If not for the crazy selling fees I'd have tried it with mine, but the net on that is around $3,800 (and ~$150 less for me since I don't have a store currently). Didn't seem terribly worth it, imo.

I wouldn't pay over $4k, but it's worth every bit of that.

Back when you could get a used Sub for $3500-4500 I'd say get that, but those days are long gone. Not many that compete with this in the $3000-4000 space. IMO.

The Black Bay comes to mind (of course), though I was never a big fan and I think the SLA looks way better. But, that's me. And if you want a nice bracelet you'd be better served by the BB.
