Now I'm confused.
Is the SLA017 the same as the SBDX019 just mentioned?

I'm liking this more and more. I bet my vintage ISO would be a perfect fit for this.

You should sell me that EZM1 for $1800 and you're half way to the Seiko!BBK357 wrote:I'm liking this more and more. I bet my vintage ISO would be a perfect fit for this.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
So, after sizing and trying on the bracelet, here are some quick thoughts. It is comparable in quality to the other higher-range Prospex models (MM300, Tuna), and is all brushed, with only polished sides of the three-piece link design. Nothing about it feels special. It doesn't have an expansion in the same way as the MM300, but it is milled and not stamped (other than the Sumo-style diver's extension).
My instant reaction was the watch looses too much definition of the sharpness of the case and lugs, and becomes unremarkable. Maybe unlike a Sub, it wasn't meant to be equally suited to a bracelet or strap.
It really comes alive on a strap.

^^^Nice! Agree though that the watch belongs on straps versus the bracelet. The nato look would be my favorite so far.

^ Agree about the bracelet - it's actually nicer than I expected, but the end links don't fit the case well, giving it an awkward look IMO. Mine will probably stay unused in the box, but it doesn't really matter to me, because I've always seen this as a strap watch. The OEM waffle strap is decent, but it does collect dust and is a bit too long, so I went ahead and ordered an Uncle Seiko.

Very nice, Tom. Just out of curiousity, could you post a pic of it next to your SD? I am curious how the size compares.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Someone posted a really good comparison shot on TRF with this next to an Omega SM300 and a pre-C Sub. This was smaller than the Omega and about the size of the Sub. It looked nicely small and tidy.
Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Totally. The 20mm natos kind of jut out, but not objectionably to the point of making me want 19mm's.
The bracelet is nice in its own right, but you hit it on the head, Jeff. It's awkward. I'm on the lookout for a 19mm Tropic-style rubber strap, if anyone has or knows of one.jswing wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:44 am^ Agree about the bracelet - it's actually nicer than I expected, but the end links don't fit the case well, giving it an awkward look IMO. It might look great on a vintage style BC 295 if it is a thin case profile

I found the 16600 to be an ideal nato strap watch, much like the EZM3. It appears the Seiko is right in the ballpark.

That would look good, and I assume a 20mm would squeeze in without looking too scrunched.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 8:26 amIt might look great on a vintage style BC 295 if it is a thin case profile

Thanks. I forgot it was the SD. I'd take that seiko over the omega at twice the price.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 8:33 amHere's that shot.JP Chestnut wrote:Someone posted a really good comparison shot on TRF with this next to an Omega SM300 and a pre-C Sub. Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Here are the three amigos. I tried to line up the crowns, as a point of reference. Unscientifically, it slots in between the 16660 and the 14060M.
I think you would like the size. Compact, with mid-case similar to the 14060M, but not quite as thin. The case back is more substantial, like the 16660, and of course the lugs angle down more.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed Jul 12, 2017 8:03 amSomeone posted a really good comparison shot on TRF with this next to an Omega SM300 and a pre-C Sub. Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
I'd like a two line 14060M. NOS or mint/unpolished is getting so expensive though.
I like the Seiko on bracelet. I'm thinking of flipping my PO2500d and making a run for one, but it seems like a PITA so I probably won't.

I like it on bracelet also. Gives it a totally look damping the severity of the lug shapes.
