Nah, pick up a vintage tropic or tropic star strap. Readily available in 19mm.

Rock the f%$^ outta it.
I haven't tried them - thanks for the tip. They could be too long for me. But perhaps not, since people were less fat back then.

Thanks!

The Shiznit is thicker than the standard, but still works. I'd imagine the regular 20mm would be ideal.

But I think you can still get them at dealers if you look hard enough, and then the most you'd pay is list, which varies by market. If you can get one from Japan it's under $3k.

I think it's only $3400 if you buy from the USA. That's not incredibly unreasonable. Cheaper is better, but people act like this is priced like that horrendous new high beat GS diver, or one of those stupid ceramic things they just released.

Haven't had time to take decent pics, but Seiko did a great job on this. Definitely not your standard $200 Seiko diver. The quality is outstanding.

It doesn't make me want one any less, but these are at least SM300 money, closing in on Sub money. Damn.

I'd rather have this than a sm300. Those were close, yet so far. I'd take a sub - of course - but $3400 isn't buying any sub I'd own.

I'd also take this one over a SM300.

I was really surprised when I saw that for first time. Easily one of the most disappointing watches for me - ever.

As someone who believes that seikos should cost $200 no matter what, they did put a lot into the sla17. I was very pleasantly surprised.

I'm looking forward to a nice trifecta in the SM300, 14060M, and the Seiko.

I don't think it would be much of a stretch to say it's very close to GS quality. For those that couldn't justify the extra cost over a MM300, the only similarity is the movement. Finishing is superior, the dial and crystal are amazing, and it has a much more upscale feel. Even the bracelet seems pretty nice, but I haven't had time to try it. The strap is ok but I'll probably go aftermarket. I rarely say keeper, but this could be one. It's hard to get a good pic, at least with my cheap phone.

At half the price of a sub this watch holds its own.
