Grand Seiko Official Forum-Sponsored by Seiko Corp on wus
From wus:
To our fellow Watchuseek members and fans of Grand Seiko:
Thank you very much for your years of support of the Grand Seiko brand! As many of you know, Topper Jewelers has done an excellent job of starting the Grand Seiko Official Forum here on Watchuseek. With the growth of GS in the US market, as well as other markets across the globe, Seiko Corporation of America is now officially sponsoring this forum, along with a few authorized dealers who will act as "sub-sponsors" and will actively contribute to the forum. These are exciting times for the brand and now being partnered with Watchuseek, we look forward to giving you the best Grand Seiko experience possible.
My name, which is also my handle, is Joe Kirk. As Rob from Topper mentioned in a previous post, I will now be the moderator for the Grand Seiko Official Forum. For those who don't know, I have spent the last decade handling Seiko's luxury products. In the last few months, I was lucky enough to obtain a position with Seiko Corporation of America as the director of the newly opened Seiko Boutique in Miami. My previous experience in the industry includes working as a retailer for many different watch brands including Grand Seiko. I have also been involved with watch related web design, and a contributing writer and photographer for Watchuseek in the past. Having attended the last five Baselworld Fairs and recently visiting our two factories in Japan, I hope I can contribute the knowledge I have obtained over the years to this forum and help the readers further understand Grand Seiko, as well as our other luxury brands.
We, again, appreciate all of the continuous support and look forward to the ongoing evolution of the Grand Seiko Official Forum!
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me directly via pm, phone, email or if you are in the Miami area, by visiting the boutique.

Can't blame the guy. Regardless of what many of us think of the content and moderation, it is still the largest of the watch forums.

I talked to Joe for a few mins at the Boutique Grand Opening. Seemed like a good dude, who definitely knows his GS. He confirmed they are able to send spring drives for service in the NJ repair facility now. Having that board presence probably makes it easier to get the word out. Sounds like he's looking for a way to show GS is accessible and less of a gamble.

They could have sponsored it here. The Mods need a good vacation.

Hopefully they will start working on MM's there also.TSD wrote:I talked to Joe for a few mins at the Boutique Grand Opening. Seemed like a good dude, who definitely knows his GS. Jack at IWW told me years ago he could service the mechanical side of the Spring Drive watches, the quartz side he said should be good for a long time.

You would think, right? They are selling MMs in the Miami Boutique. I'm gonna stop by sometime and ask Joe about it. That's a tough sales pitch if you can't send the watch in for service or drop it off at the Boutique like you can at Omega and Rolex which are right next door.toxicavenger wrote:Hopefully they will start working on MM's there also.

If you find out it would help some people for certain, since the MM's have been around for a while, and sending them to Japan sucks.TSD wrote:You would think, right? Same guy.Seppia wrote:Joe is a great guy
Went to see him out of Phoenix aside of one of my business trips there (I'm assuming he's the same Joe as in AZ Fine Time).
Seiko communicates so little on the GS line that a WUS sponsorship makes sense. It's relatively cheap and it gives them access to a big chunk of their target demographics.

I've read some bad things about Coserv. I'd rather use IWW, or send it to Japan, using Higuchi or Seiya as a middle man.

How does Kirk reconcile boutique pricing with the Seiyas and Rakutans of the web?
only accurate watches are interesting

Small world. I've dealt with him a number of times as far as 8 years ago at AZ fine time. That is one dude who knows his stuff. Very thorough and you can tell he craves the knowledge. Good for him.

Once they step up their GS service experience, I will be back.
