President bracelet for 6139 chrono by US

Post by BSears » Tue May 24, 2016 2:44 pm

Anybody got one yet? I picked one up, but it looks like Larry is having issues with the SELs again not fitting properly. I thought he had the issue worked out, but apparently they do not fit as well as expected and some complained. He emailed me when I placed the order and told me he was going to just get HELs and be done with it and would refund my money. I asked him to send them on and I would work on them or have my father-in-law file them down.

So, he sent two sets of SELs. One set would not even go on, the other had a wee bit of space on either side and one of those needed a little bit of file work, but I got it on. I am not too confident in the spring bars he sent me and my current ones for the 6139s do not fit the end links. So, basically I have a nice President bracelet and can't wear it yet.

I'll get some pics later.

Ohhhhh yeah. Frankly, I'm pondering boring out the log holes on these end links. I mean, shit, I might as well if I'm gonna have the old man file a set down to fit perfectly. I'll measure the ones I want to fit and the ones Larry provided. I'm thinking 1.5 to 1.8 mm in diameter. Thanks bro. :salute:

Terry, I'd bet they are the the 1.5mm, just like the other Seiko SELs I had trouble with.

I'm having trouble with the second end links he gave me. I give up until I stop be lazy and hit my belt grinder.

The bracelet is really nice, though.

The bracelet is really nice. It just sucks he can't get the SELs quite right. Whoever is making these for him needs a good swift hit upside the head with a baseball bat.

Too much?

What he needs to do is just make hollow end links for this bracelet.

It goes on just fine with his H-link end links but there's a large cap where the bracelet meets.

I was going to try my hollow end links but realized there would be that huge gap. He mentioned he is just going to scrap the idea of SELs and do hollow end links instead. I will likely hit him up for a pair when he gets them made.

Now that you mention this I might hit him up to light that fire. Although he gave me the second pair of SELs to make it right and might do it again, I'd pay for a set of hollow just to wear this awesome bracelet. Besides, it's likely the manufacturers fault and Larry provides a good service we need to support for the Seiko world. A pair of hollow links certainly won't break the bank.

In fact, I'm emailing him now and will link this thread.

Let me know what he says. When he and I traded emails about a week or so ago, he had not received the hollow end links yet.

Larry is a good dude, I can't see how he affords to make bracelets for model that aren't popular??? Not the 6139 but one of his other offerings.

FS: Men's Solid End-Link PRESIDENT Bracelet for 6139 Chronos UPDATED--$50-1 WEEK SALE
This was a project that I hoped would be a breeze and a perfect fit for all those 6139-600x models out there. Well, with the variation of wear and tear because of vintage cases, I discovered that one size does not fit all when it comes to Solid End-Links. So, a few of you experienced issues with them.

What I have done to remedy this is to have the standard ones made (regular, hollow) and have those as a back-up in case the SEL's are not a good fit, and you don't want to take the time to file them. So, with each order you will receive two pairs of end-links. One pair of Solid, one pair of Standard. You can decide which you will use, or at least have another pair as a back up.

This solid link bracelet fits the 6139-600x models. It is thick and sturdy and an absolute pleasure to wear. It tapers from 18mm to 16mm at the buckle. Includes a pair of spring bars. Please see pictures for best description.

SALE PRICE OF $50 IS GOOD FOR ONE WEEK ONLY (Ends 9/14)

Free shipping to US. International add $10.

Larry is making some killer bracelets. Wonder if those center links would fit a hollow end link for my 6138. Any idea how wide the center link is on the President?

This thing is sweet! Of course you have to size it so the spring bars in the clasp are on the outter edges so you don't get that teeter totter tinfoil clasp effect with them being in the center. Once you've achieved that it's a thing of beauty. Thinking of buying another just to cache. EDIT: Too late! :shifty:

BTW, Larry asked if I could mention if there's any president bracelet owners in need of HELs please email him at lbouligny@gmail.com
