007 Patina Mod...

Post by gr8sw » Tue Apr 28, 2015 12:09 pm

just picked up this cool mod off the SCWF... aged lume, aged bezel insert and aged day/date wheels... case was left intact to beat up yourself  the guy has only made a couple but seems willing to do more if asked... I'm really digging it, the best of both worlds

I saw that one and also the previous one. I think he did a really good with them. Hey did he say if he used watercolors to make them looked aged by chance?

The only thing else I would consider doing to it is to take off the bezel insert and either bake it in the oven to change the pip on it or soak it in coffee grounds. That way the whole watch will have the aged look to it.

Congrats on it

he did do something to the insert... it's noticeably lighter and faded, with some 'wear' marks... probably baked it...

not sure his lume methods, but he seems pretty approachable and eager to please ;)

makes an all-time great beater for me

Very cool, I almost bought that one, and may grab one down the road. FWIW, he does use coffee to get the patina if I remember right.

That's cool!
