Just picked up a couple of Japan only Seikos this week...

Post by DCJ » Thu Sep 26, 2013 1:35 am

Been eyeing both of these for a while and finally broke down and ordered both of them at the same time... I am normally not a huge fan of Quartz but I figured I would give the Solar and Kinetic a try. I am really liking the looks of this Solar Prospex Diver. Of course I am in love the the Shogun Scuba! Probably one of the most comfortable pieces of gear I have ever had. So lightweight... Also I am liking the fact that it is scatch resistant with the Dia Shield coating on the titanium. My next piece will have to be a Grand Seiko Diver but that is a while down the road since I have been out of the watch game for a while until now. Had a little one two years ago now and he has taken all my extra watch money  These are the first two watches I have purchased since he was born two years ago. I am really hyped and had forgotten how fun it was to get a new watch in the mail!!!

Here are a few pics I took tonight

Congrats! I've been seriously considering the Shogun for a while as well.

I have to echo what's been said; I like them both, but the Shogun is def a step above. I need to try a kinetic one of these days.

Congrats!

That solar looks nice. These are the first real pictures I've seen of it. I love JDM Seikos. I have a SARB on the way now.

The Seiko Shogun should be made the official dive watch of DWC. It's perfect.

Thanks for the cool words guys!! Really appreciate it. I am officially back in the watch buying thing now. Just yesterday I ordered the 2013 Orient 300m Saturation Diver in Black!! My how this diver as gone up in price!! I was only able to find 30 percent off of it and went for it. I love the new face lift it has with the new style hands. I will post some pics of her when she arrives today!

Yes I agree the Shogun is one cool piece of gear! I have not taken if off my wrist since it arrived the other day. It feels like I am not even wearing a watch it is so light and comfy. Although it is about to bow down the Orient 300m coming :)

The Seiko Solar Diver is definitely unique and you won't see hardly any here in the US which make it cool. I love the raised numbers on the bezel and it the diver itself can pass for classy and sporty. It is 42mm in size, so about the same size as the Shogun. The model is SBDN009 Prospex Solar Diver. Really wished it came in Automatic as I love the way the piece looks. The bezel is really nice.

Thanks again for the cool words and I will post some pics of my Orient 300m when she arrives if that is okay to post an Orient on the Seiko forum. I guess it is since they are both Japan models and related.... :)

Here are a few more quick pics of the Shogun highlighting the nicely polished accents and curves of the case!! The polished details really make this watch I think. Gives it a distinct look and it is not overdone at all. I think this one of the nicer divers out on the market today. Would be hard to beat for the money with all things relative of course....

Well as promised here are a few quick pics of my new 2013 Model Orient 300m Saturation Diver. I guess you could say this one is related to Seiko both being Japan Models. :) Anyways this badboy is flat out awesome in every way. 5.3mm thick sapphire Crystal. It is 45.4mm and around 16.6mm thick. I also have another bracelet on order for it that is really cool looking and matches it perfectly. It is MUCH more heavier than the Seiko Shogun!! This one may not leave my wrist for a long while. Really a cool piece of gear!!

I'd love the white dial 2013 model Orient....but that black dial looks great too! I do wish Orient would design a slightly more discreet logo....

Japanese watches always have stupid stuff on the dial. Like, "AUTOMATIC." Big deal.
