One More Reason I Love Seiko

Post by namor » Thu Jul 11, 2013 9:00 am

I just got a lightly used SKX007 from the Sales Forum (great deal and smooth as silk with Mikelikesit), which is probably the 10th or 11th I've owned in the past 15 years. Put it on a few days ago, and used gentle back pressure to 'hack' it to the Naval Observatory website clock. After roughly 50 hours, it has not gained or lost one second! Still exactly on time vs the USNO.

Rugged, great lume, classic looks, and superb timekeeping from the in-house 7s26...what more can you ask for?

I have one that I bought new a couple years ago off eBay. It gains about 2-3 minutes a month. No big deal, I just re-set it, but where can I take it and how much will it set me back to have it adjusted should I choose to do so?

Sharing some Seiko love. Picked up a SKX007 for dirt cheap and threw it on the Sinn rubber on a whim. And there it has stayed.

Does the wjean mesh take the Seiko fat bars?

looks great on the Sinn, Brad. I've had mine on rubber, bracelet, NATO and leather and it handles all of them. also strong running/reliable movement in a classic case and layout. all at an unbeatable price.

Most watchmakers will regulate a watch for $25 bones or so. This movement is very dependent on position though so no matter how much you regulate it won't keep time as consistent as higher end movements. Very rugged though.

2-3 minutes per month isn't bad for that movement. Within COSC almost? Regulation won't get it any better.

Balls. I wanted a mesh on my tuna. I got all excited to throw the Omega mesh on there and was quickly saddened by the lack of end link to fat bar fit, i.e., it didn't. I could use slimmer bars, but why do that?
