No Oyster Bracelet for MM300 Available?

Post by dshap » Tue Jun 18, 2013 10:58 am

I'm been looking around and it appears that no one makes an Oyster style bracelet for the MM300? Am I missing something?

Wouldn't you think that it would be popular? I wonder what gives?

I have seen them before. Don't know if they were custom, or what. Have you tried the original bracelet?

Nope I don't think anyone sells one. You might beable to try WilliamJ on ebay and see if he can get one for you.

Yobokies does a BOR version for the MM though.

Not yet. I'm thinking about it or a Sumo.

Have you seen the modded MM300 bracelet? I'll dig up a photo.

don't forget about the Shogun.

MM on a BOR, it doesn't look like the endlinks match correctly but I bet in person they do.

If it had to be an auto, I'd go with the Shogun. I would have went with it over the Tuna if I didn't want quartz.

Brushing the bracelet doesn't look bad:

Looks but it looks like they actually took the ridges off of the links where the polished parts were

Ask WingTsun (Duncan) on TZ-UK. He had a MM bracelet "re-profiled" to look more like a classic Oyster. I think he also has a generic Oyster that he's fitted to the MM case.

I think you're right. It would still probably look good if it was just brushed, like the Omega Great White bracelet is brushed.

I swapped a few emails a while back with Harold (yobokies). If memory serves, the SKX013 end links are 20mm, and a near fit with the MM case. If so, a Tungchoy oyster for the 013 could be a good choice.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Putting a hollow end link aftermarket bracelet on a $2k diver makes me weep. (No offense to vintage Rolex fans).

Seriously though, the MM300 bracelet is very nice. 5 links. Ratcheting clasp. beautiful end links. I found it slightly uncomfortable on my 7.25" wrists of the thick clasp and long links, but still it is a nice piece, so probably not much demand for an aftermarket replacement.

The key to the clasp is get your bracelet adjusted, I think I have 5 links on one side and 7 on the other side.

And I really like the polished pieces on the bracelet since it matches with the style of the case.

The MM300 bracelet is crap compared to what Seiko puts on their cheaper divers (Sumo, Shogun, Tuna).

It's not a 5-piece link, it's a one piece link made to look like a 5-piece. I don't get that.

And to those who will automatically assume I'm being a watch snob and start talking about how Rolex is overpriced or vintage watches are beat up, hyped crap, stop and read. I'm comparing Seiko bracelets to other Seiko bracelets.

Man, what a watch snob. :neener:

Seiko bracelets are the weakest part of every watch they make.

That's why I was surprised by the Tuna bracelet. I didn't expect a true three link, but it is.
