You right it is only hairline scratches you can really see because of the fact the bezel is so shiny.giosdad wrote:I think it was a enamel coating. It was not as delicate as people made it seem. I wore mine at the beach a lot. It was covered in sand several times. It did not have any scratches through the finish. I think it was more like hairline marks that could be seen in certain light.dshap wrote:Anyone know what material the bezel insert is made of?

"The MM text is printed directly onto the bezel in a multi step process. The metal bezel’s top surface is blackened and then the printing lasered onto the black “paint”. So in other words, the bezel is a one piece assembly."

Thanks for that. I think I'm going to add it to the list.giosdad wrote:on 6.5" wrists.gonzomantis wrote:Okay, who around here has 6.5" wrists and photos wearing one? Also, I once read that for a proper fit o my puny wrist I'd need to cut off a link. True?

Yep- no bezel insert replacement, have to buy a whole new bezel if you don't like it.

What year did they change the insert into the shinier one (vs the matte finish)?
I never had any issues with the bezel insert or the crown. If anything the only issue I had was the stiff turn of the bezel and the bracelet extension being too easily engaged when taking off the watch.

That's right, the bezel can be hard to turn and sometimes needs taken off to clean and lube. I don't think it's a major issue but I would not wear it in a sandy environment.

Yeah, had my bezel off recently. The o-ring they use is very thin, thinner than the one in an SKX007. It can easily get a bit cocked making the bezel very stiff. Pop the bezel off, grease the o-ring a bit, but it back in its groove carefully, and set the bezel back on straight, then pop it into place and Viola!, smooth turning bezel again.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

I should never have used the words "stiff", "grease", "o-ring", "cocked", and "groove" in the same post.
My bad.
