Double dome or single dome sapphire?

Post by toxicavenger » Mon Jan 14, 2013 4:17 pm

has anyone used one of the double dome sapphire's crystals from Harold (yobokies)? just wonder how much of a difference it is from the single dome version.

thanks fools!

A double dome is domed on both sides of the crystal. A single dome is flat on the bottom. I think.

Yes that's correct. A single dome is flat on the bottom and domed on the top, these can give a very distorted view if the dial when you turn the watch away from you. A double dome is curved on the top and on the bottom and you don't get any or very little distortion on the dial. It's more expensive to produce but I think they look a lot better.

As I understand double domed has uniform thickness like this:)). Not like this: (). Perhaps this lessens optical distortion?

For what watch?

I've noticed some of his crystals leave a large gap between the bezel insert and crystal. That's one reason I like his flat sapphire.

007, I have seen one in his pic and it actually looks closer than the single dome version.

in this pic the single is on the left.

Ben is sure to swallow.

I like the double dome in that pic, Terry. Still, I recommend the flat.

Cesar I like the flat version also but I think the double might look great on it.
