Supposedly the 8L35 is always "unadjusted" which separates it from the GS 9-series movement. A traditional caseback means that it should be easy for a good watchmaker to improve the accuracy though, unlike the MM300. I believe the MM300 version has some simple striping.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 6:30 amDoes anyone know if the movement is decorated or regulated?

I think not, but with a screw in caseback it'd be easier to regulate than in the MM300.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 6:30 amDoes anyone know if the movement is decorated or regulated?

The 42mm version looks great in pics and that blue!
Too bad the 6R15C scares the shit out of me now.

I agree on the 42 version.sierra11b wrote:The 42mm version looks great in pics and that blue!

Why on the 6R15? I've never experienced any issues.
Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
All the amplitude issues Spencer kept experiencing with the latest "C" version balance.

He can swap the balance to an old style but it's not cheap and his success rate isn't 100%. The alternative to swap with the entire clone. Not a gamble I'd be comfortable taking at Shogun prices.

Every 6R15 I've had has had issues, every one. I've owned 5 pieces with the movement.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
I've had 4 with the 6r15. My latest one on the Blumo is almost perfect time wise, the other 3 lost time. The one on my Shogun just has a mind of its own. I find the MM with the 8L35 to be very consistent regardless of position, and runs about +6 s/d.
Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Agree on the 8L35. Whether you were unlucky to get one that was 10sec slow a day or on the money, they were always consistent.
I've owned two 6R15 and "mind of its own" is a very good way to describe them.

My 10-15% comment was saying yes, most Seikos are $750 and under to me, unless you get into the fit and finish of the GSs. This one looks like a nice version of a run of mill Seiko to me, but YMMV. We all have different tastes and buy what appeals to us.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Those who have handled one say it has GS fit and finish, and it has an undecorated GS movement. I totally get that non Seiko fans wouldn't pay more than a few hundred bucks for a Seiko, but to me this watch is good value for what it is. At least at the price I'm paying, which is significantly less than the US and Euro pricing. But your description is exactly right, it's a nice version of what was originally a run of the mill Seiko, its historical significance notwithstanding.BacoNoir wrote:My 10-15% comment was saying yes, most Seikos are $750 and under to me, unless you get into the fit and finish of the GSs. And no disrespect to anyone who loves it. I know plenty of folks who hate the AP Royal Oak but I bought it for me.

I love the RO. I had a ROO Safari at one time but found it was actually too nice for me. Sounds stupid, but I just wasn't comfortable wearing such a nice watch.BacoNoir wrote:And no disrespect to anyone who loves it. I know plenty of folks who hate the AP Royal Oak but I bought it for me.

The pics look great. I wish I was able to snag one at the retailer direct prices.

Was this a slow motion double post?Seppia wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 4:08 pmThe 8L35 is the unregulated and undecorated version of a GS movement (can't remember which one).JP Chestnut wrote:Does anyone know if the movement is decorated or regulated?
I have owned two MM300 and tried another one for a few weeks.
All of them were incredibly consistent: the variance was 1-2 seconds per day tops which was most likely due to my timing inaccuracy
The timekeeping out of the box though was spotty.
The two I purchased were +15 s/day more or less.
Unacceptable for me on a $1500 watch.
The one I borrowed was +5/day which is ok.
Wayne has one and it's super accurate.
All are very consistent, so most probably the quality of the movement is there.
Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
The 8L35 in my MM was +5spd every day, and held at +/-0 if rested crown up. It's a great movement. My 6R15Cs on the other hand have been a crap shoot, and I'm done gambling.
Chino just sent confirmation that my request a few months ago for an SBDX019 pre-order went through so I guess I'll be joining Jeff's club when these ship.
