Some thing and cool I think
Some thing and cool I think
Just bought this Waltham Watch CO. advertising clock. A Jeweler or watchmaker would have this in a glass cabinet with watches for sell so you can set your watch to the correct time. Has the same movement that were in Waltham deck chronometers. Been in a long dry spell first thing I bought in 2020 this virus thing put me out of wrack like a lot of us. Paid a little more than one that sold at skinners auction house but that had a replace screw and wood damage. The brass plaque looks like a little black model paint and brass cleaner and some wood restorer polish and it should look good. Sellers photo's should get it in a week but USPS worries me these days.
Were you wind it and pull to rotate the hands has a eight day movement with a 15 jewel movement with wiplash regulator. Below link to one that sold some years back I can see this one clean up better.

Here is a photo of my US Navy Waltham chronometer from about WW1 you can see the similarities in the dial.
You just don't see these for sell often was watching pickers they said when you see it something you don't see often buy it.

That’s cool. One of these days I’m going to have to get a deck chronometer

Also been told Jewelry stores use put these in store front windows so people walking by can set there watches most likely in the 1930's I guess after I get this service down the road I can set my watch by it like so many did in the past kind of cool.

Dave were you live you mite check antique stores and vintage clock and watch shops and you can see it up close easy to make sure it works and mite be able to talk down the price. Some eBay sellers don't know how to pack these for shipping like corking the balance wheel if not done right the detent gets broke during shipping I was lucky on my Hamilton model 21 the seller knew how to cork it. But then there are mounted gimble deck watches with out a detent like this Waltham there cheaper to and will survive shipping. But know a collector on the Omega forum a Canadian who bought his Hamilton Model 21 on a visit to Washington y you. So take a look around your area the Navy auctioned them all by there Navy bases so they mite be easy to find with a little luck.

That’s a beautiful clock. I’d like to get something like that for my desk at some point.
Re: Some thing and cool I think
Thanks on all the comments found this info in the book Military timepieces by Whitney did not think that would be in that book on page 394.
Re: Some thing and cool I think
Received it the other day.
As you see has a bigger clock face than the US Navy deck chronometer
