Restoring a Seiko 6306. WARNING: A lot of rust

Post by Morethan1 » Thu Aug 06, 2020 9:08 am

Hey guys,

Thought I'd share this restoration. From the outside, this 6306 looked like a peach until I removed the bezel.

It didn't look too bad, but then I removed the crystal retaining ring and there it was. A shit ton of rust. Seems like this watch was never rinsed after taking a dip in water.

After removing all I could with a peg wood, I let it sit in some vinegar and baking soda over night.

The vinegar and baking soda removed most of the rust. Whatever is left is some pitting but nothing serious.

Here's the finished 6306. I think I'll keep this one

Thanks for reading.
