Cool Bracelet for your vintage Omega Speedmaster

Post by River Rat » Thu Apr 23, 2020 1:35 pm

I guess sitting at home with a lot of time on my hands. Thought about getting a JB Champion mesh bracelet like the NASA astronauts used. The vintage ones are expensive when doing a search but found this thread about a remake. So I ordered one for my speedy. Kind of cool one size end links from 16mm-20mm spring loaded. Thought it would ad some cool to my old speedy. Ordered the horn ends instead of strait ends. That that would work better.

There a little different than the JB champion mesh. Had to go to uncle Seiko site to look. The bead of rice mite look cool on a speedy.

It is different. A better option in my opinion. The JB looks like an after thought.

Look what they want for a original. This was the cheaper route. Some used ones that I would not trust a speedy on 200 and up.

Guess I am not the only one who thought they would be a cool option. Not many bracelets were you can adjust it with out removing any links just dealing with spring bars putting it on and off. Removing links are some times a pain in the ass glad you don’t have to deal with them with this bracelet. They have a YouTube video showing how easy to adjust it’s like real easy so you get the perfect fit.

Ordered the horn end link type so less of a gap. If I like it mite order the straight end link one for some odd ball vintage watches with no curve lug cases.

Terry your in the strap business you should design some thing like this they mite be a great seller. Here is another company bringing back the BonKlip bracelet all most the same.
https://www.josephbonnie.com/en/product ... -bracelet/
Now Terry if you could get one of these type made for smaller lug and easy to put on fix lug vintage military watches were the Company above made them for modern watches lug sizes and no way to put there BonKlip bracelet on fixed lugs plus have it for modern watch sizes you would have a winner. Vintage collectors would pay for a modern version to put on a vintage military watch with fixed lugs look what they pat for there watches. A piece of advice for you before you make fun of some thing that your good at selling watch bands. Think these would be a easier sell for vintage military watches and they would sell like pancakes if they were designed for them .

Mike thanks for the advice. I sell what I believe in and use. That astronaut bracelet you posted is ugly and not something I would sell. Not to mention that price point is way out of range for the buyers I deal with.

The reason why those bracelet's sell is due to marketing. I do not have thousands of dollars to pay Hoodinkee and all the other blogs to promote something.

Some on forums call ISO type rubber straps ugly beauty in the eye of the beholder and you sell a version of that. But I like ISO type bands.

I see at that Uncle Seiko link that he makes an 1171 style bracelet for the Speedy also. Looks good. Might be worth trying for $89. He owns a Speedy and is a big fan and started a thread at the Omega forum to see what people wanted. Tried hard to give it that vintage tapered rattly feel.

False. They are well made, easy to use, and the comfort/wearability is excellent.

We get it. You don’t like it.

From what I’ve read, the relative “flimsiness” is what made them attractive to the space program. They wanted a bracelet that would break easily if the watch got caught on something during an emergency situation. Don’t know if that’s true, but it does make some level of sense.

I think they’re pretty retro cool, myself. If I still had a speedy I’d consider one.
