Vintage Squales
Vintage Squales
Hi Ya’ll,
Lately I’ve been obsessed with vintage Squale Divers.
So far I have a 1970s Medium Case, a late 70s, early 80s Barios, and just acquired a 70s Hever, Squale Supermatic project (that I’m wearing now). Getting original parts together to restore it.
I also sourced some vintage cases, crowns, case tubes, bezels, reference correct vintage movements to build homage Squales with original or period correct parts. These will be homages, not replicas, they will have Squale logos to pay tribute to the casing, just like the great vintage brands, which used Squale in the past, but will clearly indicate that they are Homages.
I feel collecting vintage Squale is perfect for someone that enjoys tinkering and building old vintage watches, because a lot of these pieces were not sold or marketed at jewelry stores, but were distributed by specialty dive shops. Many were owned by personal in military, municipal or civilian diving outfits, were truly tool watches, and were cannibalized and put back together using parts from other pieces to be placed back in the field. But that’s maybe a topic for another thread or another forum.
This thread is for vintage Squales. Here are mine so far. Please post if you have some in your collection.

Re: Vintage Squales
I’m a bit of an addict..... specifically of this style case.... I’ve over the years picked up watches that have been used by different manufacturers.....and abandoned cases.....and one with a missing dial. How does a dial disappear?!?
I’m a sucker for creamy lume and Bakelite
I’m a sucker for MM watches
I’m a sucker for quirky rebuilds.
