My One & Only Vintage... So Far!

Post by ChesterDogg » Sat Nov 16, 2019 2:14 pm

I have always wanted to own some vintage timepieces, but as some of you already know that's easier said than done. Back around 2007 or 2008 I found a vintage Seiko with white dial that some call a "UFO" style case. I was disappointed to find out that what I bought was not original, so I sold it and lost interest in vintage and decided to concentrate on current brands/models for now.

Fast forward to 2016 or 2017 when I was perusing EBay one night and came across a vintage Omega that piqued my interest. The seller posted several pictures including pictures of the movement. To me, everything looked good so I decided to go for it. I was able to win the auction with what I think was a fair price and when it arrived, My expectations were exceeded very much and I am happy to include it in my collection. I accidentally lost it for over a year but I knew the vicinity where it was. Upon finding it with the help of my youngest daughter, it is now safe and secure in my watch box.

So, without further adieu I present to you my only vintage, An Omega Seamaster from the 1970s...

As I was posting pictures, I saw where I uploaded them some time in 2017. I am very happy with the Seamaster, and by taking it slow I hope to add a few more in the coming years. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Hey Terry and Eric... I appreciate your comments very much. When I first saw the pictures, I thought this was a very special vintage. After viewing the pictures and seeing the movement, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. You read a lot of horror stories when someone buys a vintage and they realized they wasted money. I did not get that feeling when I saw this beautiful example of what "vintage" should be for everyone.

I would be interested in what your thoughts/opinions are of this Omega... Do you think this was a good buy, and what you think the value would be? This is a definite keeper and regardless, I will never sell under any circumstances.
