Vintage Quartz Divers

Post by Steve O. » Tue Oct 16, 2018 11:19 am

Love me some vintage quartz divers from the '70s and '80s. They were often more expensive new than their mechanical counterparts. Now they fly under the radar and good deals can be had.

Still have most, but a couple are gone...

Very nice! And that Scuba Pro... just damn!

I should really start hunting for another Heuer Monin diver (980 case), I sold the one I had too soon.

Got this sucker when on active duty in the Navy in the early 1980's brand new had been relumed and new crystal the lume got shot over the years turned a nasty dark grey.

This one was a pain had to get a donor movement since parts were scarce for this early quartz movement.

Superb thread.. about time the quartz watch was celebrated!! I love them.. I cut my teeth on them.. and I'm proud to not be a quartz snob.
Not sure of the science, but it's said that quartz is more stable at very cold conditions, so more suited to deep dives.

Some of my past beauties..

These are all fantastic. Keep them coming.

And that’s all I have to contribute about the matter.
