Would like some help with this one

Post by caesarmascetti » Sun Apr 01, 2018 8:58 am

ok guys not really sure about this one. I purchased this Tutima Chrono years ago from a commercial airline pilot (the watch was serviced with the letter included from Tutima USA b4 I bought it). The watch has a few things that make me scratch my head.

1) its stainless steel not Ti and most of these I have seen are Ti
2) the dial is sterile, all it has on it are the words military chrono
3) The case back states made in West Germany, this last bit is actually kind of cool, I think it makes it a very early version of this watch.
4) The chapter ring is an actual Tachy scale as opposed to the ring Im used to seeing on these with just numbers

Is there anyway to tell is if was an actual issued watch?

I’m no help, but that’s a great looking watch.

There are some forum threads that might shed some light on this, like this one:

You may also want to post on MWR, lots of military watch experts there:

yeah I read up some more on it, the watch is a very early version but it does not say BUND. It is a very early civilian version

That's a cool piece. Bonus that you have the service paperwork to help authenticate. Might want to e-mail Tutima and see if they will respond with any additional info on production date, etc in case you want to flip it in the future.

yeah, these are really nice chronos, but it is civilian without the Bund markings... W. Germany does indicate an earlier version, later ones had Tutima on the dial... the bracelets are really great too! nice catch!
