Seiko 7002 crystal question. New to forum.

Post by alhntr » Wed Nov 29, 2017 5:47 am

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum. I'v been looking at the Seiko 7002 dive watches and doing a lot of reading. I was wondering if a acrylic crystal is original on some of these 7002-700* dive watches. I thought that the hardlex crystal was the one they used, I could be wrong. I saw a watch that said it had the original acrylic crystal.

Welcome to the forum I don't know ether but acrylic crystal are easy to remove scratches with polywatch so on divers I like acrylic crystal on them. You mite get your answer here at this forum there more expert with vintage Seiko's. All I know is my Seiko 6105 is glass but a totally different watch.

Welcome to the forum.

The answer to your question: no, it is not original. Maybe whoever said it made a mistake, e.g. by editing existing post, forgot to change that part of the description.

hardlex only
A 6217 was domed acrylic but it’s Hardlex in the 6306/6309 onward. Even my 6138 from ‘72 was Hardlex.
