Vintage Omega SM300 help needed
Vintage Omega SM300 help needed
I came across a vintage Omega SM 300 yesterday from a local seller that I know, but haven't seen it in the flesh yet. As there are other interested parties I thought best to see if it is worth bidding on as the watch looks franken to me eg. bezel must be aftermarket just judging by its condition.
This is not a deal breaker to me as I think I can get it very cheap. Anyway, here are some pics and hopefully someone can give me some feedback. Btw, my quick search on the net came up with contradictions regarding the calibre 562 and its use in SM300's.. so expert advice here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking and for any advice offered.

Nevermind, just found a website that educated me on fake vintage 300's and the one I am looking at is most definitely fake for the most part anyway.

Re: Vintage Omega SM300 help needed
Glad you figure it was fake. The sweep hand wrong. By each lume hour mark is a second mark that should not be there so fake dial. The crown don't look right and I bet I would find a mess up on the case back and the hour and minute hand don't look right only thing Omega the movement that I bet was never in a Omega 300 but in another model Omega. Be careful. When I got mine I bought the seller Jack at IWW I knew he did not sell fakes. I once passed on one at the Alameda Point antique fair for 800 bucks the lume was missing from the hands because I was not sure what to look for. Then seen it at the next NAWCC chapter 5 mart for more money it was real.

Thanks guys! I told the seller I passed on this one as at least the dial, bezel insert, hands and probably more parts were fake. He still has it up for sale on his website (for about 700$).

Re: Vintage Omega SM300 help needed
He has it low priced because he knows it's fake other wise if he thought it was real a big triangle dial one sells for over 3000.00 or more what a ass of a seller. Don't ever buy any watches from this turd low life you can't trust that seller. Who is it so I don't buy any thing from a slime ball. We need a hall of shame for sellers to avoid on this forum MODS a hint.
Re: Vintage Omega SM300 help needed
Mike, the guy only sells locally in Indonesia and his website is completely in Indonesian language. However, I bought at least a dozen watches from him, and traded with him even more watches. He's normally not selling vintage stuff besides a few vintage Tuna's. His asking price for the Omega indicates he knew it was a franken watch and after I told him this might be damaging his reputation he took the thing offline yesterday.
