Just did a wire transfer for this Zenith Special I know some one that did a face to face deal with him while on vacation in the Czech Republic all ways drooled at this seller web site his price was so good for this I took a chance on it. If I am lucky I will have it by the end of June due it takes about 3 weeks for the founds to clear why I hate bank wire. Now the long wait and hope the bank lady who was having a hard time put all the correct info in I am a little worried there took over a hour in the bank I hate bank wire. This is were all Zenith Pilot watches get there DNA it has a 41mm case so large for it's day. A little info on it. Kind of cool when you unscrew the first back case cover then a see through back with glass cover. The regulator kind of cool to.

What weird is the hands on the modern Zenith Special Pilot watch the hand design from a vintage Zenith aircraft clock and not like the Original Zenith Special.

They were that way due to most aircraft in those days were open cockpit biplanes were they wore large leather gloves those large crowns made it easy to adjust and wind the watch a different era. It had a purpose compared to watches today.

That looks to be in stellar condition, Mike! Sucks you won't get it for a month though. When that one lands, you definitely need to do a SOTC picture.

It does have a dial repair at the eleven but that's how I got a fair price on my Omega 53 so I don't mind stuff like that. The dial repair you need to look hard to see it the dial is porcelain. That dial repair mite be why I got a fair price on it. But the rest of the watch looks great.

If any one want's to look at the sellers web site here is the link. There is a Czech and British flag at the top to select language. The watches with a price are the ones for sell he is firm I was told on his prices so did not try to haggle because he mite just stop the sell from the get-go. I posted with English and Czech using google translator since words some times don't come out right. Some one told me do Czech or he won't reply. CZ money seems a lot until you see what it is in US currency and some watches are a fair price. With the time difference it's takes a few days to do a watch deal. Then the dreaded bank wire and the wait for it to clear and the watch to be delivered. But some Pilot and military watches you can't get here so worth the trouble if it works out. He has a few with out price that I want so probably sold but if this deal goes OK I will ask him to notify me if he gets another he is willing to sell. So the link I been looking at his site for years just took me a while to buy any thing from him.

Mite try and get a archive letter seems more easy to get in the USA than Omega that was a bitch they make you jump though all kinds of hoops to get one the last time I got one had to get Andy one of our mods get one for me since they don't give any one in Europe a hard time. I see we in the USA are not black balled by Zenith like we are with Omega when getting a archive letter I guess Zenith treats there customers better and not like SHIT. I guess I can find more history about it so mite be worth getting a archive letter.

That's a great idea, Mike - hope Zenith will provide you documentation of the watch's history
And another vote for a SOTC

Well the wire transfer was faster than I thought the last time I used it I waited a little over a week for it to be deposited in the sellers account. It now on the way to the USA.

What a sweet watch. Love the early deco-style (some might say gothic) arabic dials. To be completely honest I had wondered where the modern Zenith pilot watch DNA originated. Now I want one for keeps!

Well it's in MT now mite get it today if it makes it to my post office. Had me worried no scans since leaving customs thought that was odd. Maybe I will do a SOTC shot of it with a few out of the collection for size comparison. Here is a old thread I found doing a search on MWR for info. Some one posted a photo of Bruce Springsteen wearing a vintage watch like this you can tell by the distinctive crown. Mine about the same size I bet. See not a small watch. Bruce must be a lefty like Steve McQueen was.
