Two Classics - Which Is The Better Choice?

Post by namor » Thu Sep 22, 2016 2:49 pm

There are two beefy vintage watches that I have seen pics of but never had - the 1000M Tag/Heuer SuperPro and the 1000M Zodiac Super SeaWolf. I have been told the head of Zodiac who launched the SSW then left for Tag where he created the SP with many similarities. Don't really know how they compare in actual wear though - Any informed opinions?

Both fantastic, but I'd have to go SuperPro.

SuperPro for sure!

I'd go Heuer... never had one, but Stew (Heuerville) loves his... I had the Zodiac, a beefy diver but the sawblade bezel was a little too much...

a pic of both together borrowed from the www

Not a big fan of either bezel, but Tag if I had to pick.

Always wanted to try the Zodiac, but never got around to it.

Picked up Nicks Super Pro recently, but it's at Tag for a full service.
Love the look and feel of it. Thick watch, but not too big.

So anyone who wants a great example should just wait for you to sell yours when it shows up?

I'm a fan of the Zodiac. The yellow indicies model with the gen 1 bracelet is a beaut.

I'd go Zodiac. I prefer that bezel.

Super Pro every time - I'm biased, it's my fav watch.. I think it's the best diver watch ever made, seriously.
But don't confuse the Heuer & TAG Heuer models.. the price variation can be huge.
The photo shown in the OP.. I contacted the owner of that one (Mint/NOS), and said name your price.. he didn't want to sell !

Any color for the opinions? Experiences with either to sway the uninformed?

Best time to buy a watch you want. Wait for Ben to own it. He will service it until it's perfect and then sell it.

The Super Pro. It's a Heuer however marked. It was a hold over model. Fantastic monocoque case. Only sold it to finance my SD.
