Check the price this one sold for
http://shop.hodinkee.com/collections/wa ... 1939885060

I bought mine a little under halve what this one sold for. Mine had a minor repair on the dial and part of the tip of the second hand was broke but these defects were really not noticeable. If prices keep up like this my vintage military watch collecting will be over. Wonder if the ant-magnetic dust cover and metal ring that stops the dust cover from moving around was missing at that price did not see it in any of the sales photo's or in the description.

if you want $4000, can you take 10 minutes to do a simple clean up? how much time did they spend photographing it?

It's a shame that many vintage watches have ballooned in value. I used to enjoy buying Heuers - it was like picking up a new pair of trainers.. now it's like buying a new car :crybaby:

They have gotten out of control. I'd love a vintage Monaco but not at $10K.

I all ways wanted one of these early CWC issued dive watches. This seller had it listed for 2999.00 once did not sell now about a year later he has it for 3999.00 a 1000 mark up he mite be stuck with it for a few years until prices rise that high but then he will raise it another 1000 and have it for a few more years I bet.

Here is a shot of mine when I received it in this condition no DNA included and 1600 bucks cheaper if I remember right what I paid for it a few months back. I could of got it half the price I paid for it when I first got into watch collecting those were the days when prices were good but I had less money to spend back then and back then I was cheap with my money. But with prices rising I am going back to being cheap again. Mine has better hands as you see not relumed.

This hobby is what made me become a male escort. So far I'm only paying $50/hr, but when I find the right women I'll hope to break even, then maybe start generating revenue.

So you are like an intern who has to pay for the experience. I guess that's win win considering the trade.

It's funny that we can simultaneously have a thread talking about how hard it is to well watches while we have another talking about how watches are unaffordable these days.

Well Matt the ones having problem selling watches are the new stuff it's the collectible vintage watches every one use to under look were there are fewer on the market that's selling and really going up in value due to some collectors think there a investment or came to my thinking wearing some thing no one else has making the price go up and got so much money they pay more so the price keeps going up. Think I paid 1780.00 for mine and some one who got more money than they know what to do with paid 3900.00 and it was missing the dust cover and ring see what I mean. There were two Omega 53's on EBay one correct and one with wrong hands there both gone on EBay real fast after that 3900.00 sell. That one that sold with wrong hands on eBay the hour and minute hands do come up for sell the second hand will be hard to find I would of passed on that one only good for parts.

High prices and shitty sales aren't mutually exclusive.
