I just got a tension ring for my Omega 53 to hold the magnetic dust cover. It was missing did have a odd one that was not correct. So since I had it apart took photo's of the inside.
See the ring that inside the case cover that what was missing good to now have it correct.
A really nice looking 17 jewel 283 movement the movement in a antimagnetic case with antimagnetic cover inside the main case. One watch I will never have to demagnetize. Not bad at keeping time from a watch made in 1953 it's about 5-9 seconds fast a day. I guess it can be still used as intended for Navigation.

I guess the first railmaster took it's cue from the 53. So you get the best bang for the buck with the 53 about $4000.00 cheaper.

Really cool watch, Mike. Always loved Railmasters, and especially those versions of issued PAF Seamasters.

What surprises me they made more Railmasters than the RAF 53 that they made for only one year. And even with the military connection and only made for one year the prices stay low on the 53 than the vintage Railmasters that sale for big bucks. I would father have the 53 less of them made with a military connection and it's made about the same as the first Railmaster.

It's an old article, but here is a small write up on the variants out there:
