Tissot Navigator Lemania 1343
I've been looking for a decent example of this one for some time. The movement is relatively rare not used in many watches, and IMO it's one of the most legible chronos ever made:

Very nice. There are some really cool vintage Tissots out there at reasonable prices. I've been tempted by a few myself.

Re: Tissot Navigator Lemania 1343
nice catch, Caesar! that's a great looking chrono!
agreed, Tissot has some great vintage stuff at still reasonable prices... think they were part of an Omega/Lemania/Tissot alliance in the 60's/70's?

yup this one is from that Era when they were aligned with Omega, also this piece is about 42mm so even though its a 40yo watch it wears much like a modern one.
Re: Tissot Navigator Lemania 1343
The movement was only used in this particular model of Tissot; the black and white faced versions. It's a very nice minimal chronograph - here's mine -

Re: Tissot Navigator Lemania 1343
The Tissot was the only watch using the Lemania 1343 movement - in two versions as below (Courtesy 'Gary')
The 5100/5012 is a different family altogether, the 1340/41/43 movement family is a lot more traditional in manufacture than the robust, simpler and cheaper to produce 5100 (and the 5012 version of it). The 1343 is essentially a subdial (hour totaliser) deletion of the 1341 which itself is a 24hr indicator deletion (and simplification of) the 1340.
The 1340 was Lemanias first automatic chronograph, made in 1970. It was also Omega-fied as the Omega cal. 1040/41 family used in the early seventies. Many other makers used the 1341 and it's latest iteration is probably the Breguet/Nouvelle Lemania 584Q (fly-back/24hr/central minute counter) used in the Type XXI. None of these however had the same layout as the minimalist 1343.
Here are my two together (1343 & 5012)
The 5012 was a slower beat version of the 5100, deleting the hour totaliser as the 1343 did.

Andy be glad you got a 5012 when they were probably better priced it's one I would love to ad to the collection but I think I missed the boat on adding that one.
Re: Tissot Navigator Lemania 1343
^ I was very lucky with it Mike, price and availability; they don't come around often that's for sure...
