Obscure Find

Post by Steve O. » Tue Dec 29, 2015 9:06 am

The sheer number and variety of vintage divers never ceases to amaze. Came across this one on the 'bay a while back, but thought the price was a little steep. Saw it again a couple of weeks later with a much lower BIN price, so pulled the trigger. Bought an NOS Tropic Sport strap for it, and after three weeks, it finally arrived. Still need to take some Polywatch to the crystal however.

It ticks all the boxes for me - large 41mm case, big screw down crown, 20 ATM water resistance, cool dial and hands with nice patina, and bonus, a recently serviced ETA 2472 movement with four adjustments.

Unfortunately, not much info available on this brand. Apparently Tevomatic is an offshoot of parent company Tevo, a Swedish based firm.

Thanks for looking.

Very nice, nice size, nice case.

I spend far too much time searching for vintage divers on the bay.

The tropic strap makes it look so much more beautiful.

You're right Steve, there are a plethora of strange named vintage divers from the 70's. A great deal of them look piss-poor, and you need to sort the wheat from the chaff. Most look like they wouldn't withstand light rain.
What you've found is a cracker - it looks bombproof, and reminds me of the Certina turtlebacks.
The dial layout and lume is spot-on

Thanks guys. As Stewart said, most of what you find is junk, but every once in a while you get lucky!
