Some thing new coming to the collection

Post by River Rat » Fri Sep 11, 2015 9:51 am

Well I got some thing new coming to the collection. Been a while since I added a diver and possible issue one the case back some one scratched the marking off but when these were made they were not being sold like Marathon to the public. Don't see these that often for sell and not one of the remakes. Love the dial and hands and patina in the lume. And I got a gray NATO waiting for it.

I can never afford a Issued British Rolex but this Precista was affordable first issued British diver to the collection and the price on these wont surprise me if they go up were they are not affordable in the future. Got it for about the price I paid for my Benrus type II years ago they both have about the same look except the dial like the type I or the issued Omega 300 BIG Triangle but with a quartz movement most I ever paid for a quartz.

I like the look of these (and the Eddie remakes) very much. That case looks to be in nice condition.

Looks great Mike love to see the case back too. Congratulations. I just missed an issued CWC a few weeks back pulled the trigger two minutes too late. It was cheap too. I agree these are pretty under appreciated but they are already getting scarce and occasionally very expensive when a collector knows what they have. That ones a 1993 built and issued watch right ?!

It's a 1993 vintage built one from the original Precista watch co here is a shot of the case back the seller said no issue marks can be seen so he could not guarantee if it was issue but don't think these were sold to the public if it had legible issue marks it would of cost me 100 or more British pounds a lot of money with the exchange rate. I remember buying the MKII remake of the Benrus type II and was never happy until I got a real one copies never last in my collection this is still a rare watch even with the meshed up case back.

Does got a cool bezel ring large enough to make it easy to move with gloves on for a diver. The crystal has been replaced and a metal movement holder has been put in they originally came with a plastic one that often cracks so not complaining about that being replaced still has the original movement that has been serviced.

Looks completely legit to me. I'm guessing it "went missing" from inventory around the time the MOD markings were ground off. Laughs. Theft of kit is a Brit tradition. I have worked with a bunch in the past they are very proud of their ability to "aquire kit".

A little info from one of my books on military issued watches. You can see that these had real faint issue marking easy to scratch out. Looks like the case is bigger than I thought at 43.5 mm.

Well all most thought this one got lost in the mail four days after the last scan a hour drive to my post office. This one has a good size and it's got a lot of the same looks as the Benrus Class A type I and II issued diver but a thicker case than the Benrus a few photo's

You can see the similarities between the Precista and the Benrus

I replaced the battery the other day. The movement acted up. It has a ISA 1198 one jewel quartz movement so I ordered another movement see link. The local watchmaker does movement swap for 50 bucks.

http://www.watchmaterial.com/isa-1198-1 ... sa1198-12/
The funny thing is the movement seems to be working right might just leave it alone if it keeps good time might have been just the battery change that caused it to loose time a little before it got use to the new battery who knows it seems to be keeping time right now. It might loose value with a movement swap. I will keep the new movement as a spare for this watch just in case the original movements takes a dump.
