Single Crown Compressors
Single Crown Compressors
These tend to fly under the radar, but are pretty cool IMO. Many companies produced single crown compressors (with tell tale cross hatch crowns), but to me, of particular interest are the Airvac 400 models produced by the little known Swiss maker Jaquet-Girard. They're vacuumized (sealed), and water proof to 12 ATU. With compressors, the deeper the watch is submerged, the more the case back "compresses", forming a tighter seal. From what I understand, models with snap back cases are classified as Compresors, and ones with screw backs, Super Compressors.
I'm sure many here are familiar with this website which contains tons of interesting information:

Anyone else collect these? Thanks for looking.

I've always wanted to get a compressor in some variation, but for whatever reason haven't. Cool pair and the Sabina is cool as well.

Single Crown Compressors
I have a few dual crown compressors and the only single crown is from Tradition aka Sears and Roebuck lol. I might giggle where it came from but this is a serious watch and still waterproof 45 years since new.
Tradition 500 compressor with AS Anton schild 1430 17j handwind movement signed so I consider myself lucky to have found and been able to acquire this I wear it whenever it rains lol.

Re: Single Crown Compressors
Stevo. Saw your post and must say that I could not agree more. The Airvacs by Jaquet Girard have it all. Beveled Crystal, Cross Hatch Logo Crown and an incredible Case Back. JG enables One to wear a Compressor Dress Watch at It's finest. The Cross Hatch Crown has got to be one of the finest "Calling Cards" in all of Watchdom. I own 6 and always looking. When I figure how to attach photo I will post. Mike
