Old Longines box

Post by CGSshorty » Sun Jul 19, 2015 1:32 pm

As many of you are aware, I am packing up my house to move to Florida. This has house was owned by my parents and grandparents before me, so there is s lot of crap to be thrown out. One of the coolest things I found Is this old Longines box. I have to guess it was my grandfather's, even though it was full of old FDNY pins and cuff links. My dad never bought a nice watch in his life, but from what I understand my grandfather enjoyed nice things. I'm going to use it on my dresser to hold odds and ends.

That's pretty cool. I wonder what watch it originally belonged to.

No idea. My grandfather died when I was 2, and my grandmother never mentioned him having a nice watch. Maybe my uncle would know.

Sure it is. My sanitation guys are going to hate me in the morning. I think I need to make it "Christmas in July" for them.

For the person that's been going through your trash at night, it really will be Christmas.

The guys over at Omega Forums are the ones to turn to for vintage Longines. Many very knowledgable WIS on vintage Longines, Omega, UG, Zenith, etc.

Nice find, Chris.

We hit the road Saturday. Splitting the ride to two days because we'll have both kids and both dogs in the car.

Drove by it about 3 years ago when the family and I drove down to Wally World (er, Disney World). I'd been there once before - still looks like the ultimate kitchy tourist trap, and they still have tons of billboards advertising the place starting at about 100 miles out in either direction.

Chris - do what I did with the family - stop in DC and go to a Nationals game. Makes the second day's drive a lot longer, but it's doable and the Nats stadium is awesome.
