Real or fake Girard Perregaux

Post by Zonda » Wed Jan 28, 2015 6:08 pm

Gents just need a conformation either way on this Girard Perregaux, as it has an association with Argentina. I've seen to many fakes/cobbled watches coming from there so I'm a little nervous as; i have never seen an unsigned movement from GP; no movement number worries me and the large GP on the dial is out of style with other GP's.

looks fishy to me... I would think GP would have a much nicer finished movement and the big GP looks silly... plus the Argentina association is scary... I'd pass...

I don't know jack about that watch, but I do know that the two dudes who posted above me know their shit about vintage.

Solid advice presented, no doubt.

Similar in style to some genuine vintage Cuervo y Sobrinos branded GPs. However, almost certainly a redial. Given the basic movement, I would say not the real deal unfortunately.

Good move – utterly unoriginal.

Not the GP usual finish for the AS1130. South-america has very imaginative redialers. So many cuervo dials but how many original ?
A Cuba based brand may not haves old tons.

I did see some other Cuervo y Sobrinos watches on the web with GP movements...There also seems to be some w/Longines..I probably wouldn't touch it...
