Visiting Zodiac Chronograph

Post by Mr Rick » Mon Dec 03, 2012 1:58 pm

Visiting casa de Rick this week, on it's way to the continent, is this vintage Zodiac chronograph.

Sadly named by some the 'Poor Man's Heuer', this Zodiac Ref. 73463 chronograph was, I believe, built in the Heuer factory, under contract to Zodiac. In fact, this watch has gained a Heuer signed crown somewhere in it's travels. Other then the crown, it appears to be in relatively original condition.

It is powered by a Valjoux 7334.

A bit more information on 'Poor Man's Heuers' here:

I have no qualms wearing it. It looks better in person then in these pictures.

Thanks for the info. Looks exactly like the Heuer but with the crown at 3 instead of 9.

Seems like lots of companies back in the 70's contracted out to other brands.
