If It Were A House It Would Be A Fixer-Upper

Post by Mr Rick » Mon Oct 29, 2012 12:41 pm

Today this Heuer Autavia Ref 11063T arrived from South America. It has many cosmetic issues, but nothing the Heuer wizards of Europe cannot handle. A few months and a 'few' dollars and she will be back in showroom condition.

I think you mistakenly took photos of a pristine example, because i see no cosmetic flaws.

Post your actual watch!

Haha, looks fantastic. Even better after the spa, congrats Rick!

Actually I could wear it proudly just as it is, but there are a number of things that are incorrect for this model Heuer. The main hands need to be re-lumed, the second hand is wrong , the dial needs attention and the case needs refinishing. And, of course, the movement should be serviced.

Restoring a vintage Heuer is not for the faint hearted. But the results are worth it. IMHO

Sweet, sweet watch and congrats on the acquisition! My wife has given me the go-ahead to buy one of these one day, largely because she likes them, also.

Just have to get over my reticence to do so with the potential risks of buying vintage/ heritage and being screwed (had two previous bad heritage / vintage buying experiences).

Looking forward to seeing the post-reconstruction photos.

Damn, man... the hits keep on coming.

You must not have kids. ;)

Congrats!

Like James, I am reticent to jump on what would appear to me to be a sweet vintage Heuer chrono. I wouldn't know shit from shinola about correct hands, etc.

Well done.
