Rare Gold Vintage Divers

Post by Steve O. » Wed Dec 05, 2018 12:29 pm

Solid gold isn't often associated with serious dive watches, but these two are the exception. So very cool...

First is a solid gold Scubapro 500 Chronometer shown in these two ads from the early '80's. I have never seen one either online or in person. I would imagine that very few were made and sold.

Another is the extremely rare gold Doxa SUB 300 T. It's said that only two prototypes were made in 1968 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Jacques Cousteau’s first Aqua-Lung regulator from 1943.

I guess the new solid gold Squale should be in this thread too.

I never knew about the pieces above so it’s pretty cool to see and I guess goes some way to justifying Squale’s thought to produce one (despite the nay sayers)

Doxa just added the solid gold 200....only 13 made and it is only 70k

It's new but a vintage tribute

When I was an embarked Marine, the skipper of the ship I was on had a solid gold Submariner with blue dial/bezel. Still one of the best looking watches I've ever seen.

Never been a fan of gold watches. Just to much bling.
