Seiko HEQ 1979 King Quartz found...

Post by T. Wong » Sat Sep 24, 2016 1:30 pm

My usual haunt at the local recycle shop had this vintage Seiko for $75 so I scooped it up. TV shaped dial, battery hatch on the caseback, rated at 20/spy back then! Bracelet is aftermarket so I might find a 19mm leather strap for it.

Nice. Big fan of vintage quartz Seikos (and Citizens). Both underrated and generally affordable.

Yeah for sure, Steve! I had to return and grab this one for that price! Today I went to my watchmaker and bought a NOS Seiko leather 19mm for more modern look.....

Nice watch, Thian! That would go well in a montage with a vintage Toyota Crown.

I need to get my gold 4004 going again. It has that style battery hatch too.

Yeah, but here in Japan i see more 70s Datsun pickups! Japan never really got into the larger pickups like they ship to N. America. They use a smaller version for tending the rice fields and vegetable gardens.

I kind of liked the generic bracelet on that one. Band is good too, but love the vintage look.

I didn't know there was a Crown pickup. Here's a vintage Crown sedan:

Yeah, the Crown by Toyota is their flagship large sedan. All the cop cars have Crowns as their main vehicles. Many car lovers collect Datsuns from the 70s.
