Stainless Steel Míleata

Hi Guys, :salute:
I just wanted to take a leaf from Todd’s book and let you guys know that I’m still around despite a poor year and a couple of setbacks. Things have been a bit slower than I would like with SAS and Míleata :banghead: , but I have been quite busy with design work that I do for other brands :shh: and my day job has taken up a lot of time this year.

At the moment I’m still focusing on the Míleata brand, and was looking at bringing out a quartz GMT version but I was playing around with the design a bit and wondered what it would look like in stainless steel. So, I’ve come up with this version and now I’m not sure which to go with first. This stainless-steel version is really calling me because we have not had a stainless-steel watch in quite a while. It would have the same tough specs and case as the M series; automatic 9015, 500 meters, anti-magnetic, but use screwbars and silver hands and hour markers. Instead of the engraved bezel it would have a bezel insert as I think it really compliments it, and gives it a bit of a Tudor Pelagos vibe.

I tried about a billion colour combinations but these two stand out the strongest, with matching NATO straps. I haven’t nailed down the price yet but expect it around €500 and maybe look at pre-orders with a discount.

It also needs a name, so maybe we could run a competition to name it?

Is this something you would be interested in?

I like that blue one. How large would these be?

I like it.

I’d prefer an engraved bezel or aluminum bezel, as everyone is doing ceramic these days.

One word of warning. I notice that it has downward sloping lugs and a domed crystal. Apparently Eddie from TF owns the rights to that design

Nice look. I'm guessing that this is a 44mm, based on the position of the date aperture. That might put it above the limit for my svelte wrists.

It uses the same Míleata case, it's a 42mm diameter.

I don't make copies of other brands so Eddie has nothing to worry about :-D

I was thinking about an aluminium insert.

That looks great. Please don’t use flathead screwbars.

Name for a tough and rough watch, built like a tank? An Irish tank?

How about 'Vickers'

I agree. Go hex. Otherwise it scratches one time changing the strap.

Like the blue!

Font on bezel looks too slim when compared to the thick markers and hands.

Drilled lugs would even be better so you don't have to worry about someone stripping out the case on it. Or losing screw heads.

One sided screw bar. No losing screw heads now.

I agree with the hex screws but there is not enough room on the side of the lug that's why I went for the slimmer option. Drilled lugs and fat spring bars could be an option.

If you can’t do hex, then yeah drilled lugs and fat bars will work.

I love the blue, the case shape and size, the hand style, and the applied indices.

How about loading a 2893-2 in it, printing the GMT scale on the rehaut instead of the minute scale (see Aztecknight's GS in today's WRUW post) so I can have both a second time zone and a timing bezel, and use drilled lugs with shoulderless spring bars?

Box that up for a price competitive with Steinhart's Ti GMT and I think you'd have a winner.

One sided screw bars work poorly with one piece / nato straps. The movement of the strap can unscrew the single-sided screw. I’ve seen it happen.

Drilled lugs is ideal on a watch this size.

make the watch 13.5mm thick or thinner and that would be stellar. drop the word automatic off of the dial to clean it up. do you really need a name for this model? how about something basic like SS500?

That's hilarious. Maybe I should acquire rights to round dials...

Don't be silly. Rolex invented round dials.

I’d go that route then Image

I like the Watch overall. Reminds me of the DiverOne in a more upscale way.
I’d remove the wording between center and 6, move it to the caseback.
Not sure it needs a name on the dial. Can be known and sold as the Mileata Diver I guess.
Bezel font could be a bit thicker but I sort of like it as is.
Drilled lugs for me or a one sided screw bar if you don’t want to use springbars

I’d like to see the logo a little larger.
