Yes, but I would still chamfer the outer corners of the lugs.Graeme wrote:Regarding the lugs.
I am reluctant to change the lugs for a few reasons.
1, I don't want to stray to far away from the SEA-01 case.
2, To add a taper to match the BOR links, doesn't really work. I have drawn a few samples to show you.
This one shows the taper viewed from the top,.....
This one shows the side, you can see that the screwbars don't sit flush with the side of the lug (my OCD is going into hyperdrive)
And on this one with the rubber strap you can see the lugs don't give the feel of the SAS case.

Re: New design, thoughts and opinions...
Love it. I wouldn't change a thing.
Looks amazing. This will reach goal on Kickstarter with this sweet spot of 42mm X 49mm within a week or maybe 3-4 days.
I'll be happy to share it everywhere so people benefit from it.
I think you hit an absolute home run here and would love to prove those doubters wrong if you leave it as is.
I've seen some ugly watches reach and surpass Kickstarter goal by many multiples. This looks ridiculously good and it should be put out in a huge platform like KS for more people to enjoy and with Miyota to make it more affordable.

Since changing the case is out, what about changing the BOR to match the case width? Essentially widen the end pieces to meet the lugs.Graeme wrote:Regarding the lugs.

I like that a lot, wasn't keen on the first set of hands but now it looks better.
I'm also not sure about the solid endlink, I think it makes the case look too blocky, can you expose the ends of the beads in the endlink?

Yes I am going to look at the endlink again and play with some ideas. It depends aswell with what the manufacturer can produce.james80 wrote:I like that a lot, wasn't keen on the first set of hands but now it looks better.

I will work on it over the next few days.

I like this version and understand the taper, this view of it looks better. If you are going to offer a bracelet this makes sense. As much as I like the vintage look on some watches with a thinner strap the contrast from lug to bracelet look severe without the taper, though it looks OK on the strap.Graeme wrote:Regarding the lugs.

Re: New design, thoughts and opinions...
I have to echo Shorty and Hoppy... Forget the bracelet, its a perfect strap watch. And use similar hands as the sea-01 or air-01 hands. Also chamfer or smooth the lugs a little.
Omega / Tudor / Rolex / Sinn / Doxa / Seiko
Re: New design, thoughts and opinions...
Definitely keep the bracelet. Non tapering definitely matches the lugs better. I actually liked the original hands. Made it interesting. Either way, excellent watch!

I know, Don. I own one. My only point is that not every watch needs a bracelet.tattoo chef wrote:He was talking about the SAS AirCGSshorty wrote:The Mileata doesn't even have spring bars. Who needs a bracelet?

Re: New design, thoughts and opinions...
First of all thank you for sharing your design Graeme, the watch looks great. My favorite version is the one without date window. The hands are better in the traditional design (straight like the below).
The seconds hand could be slightly changed, right now it looks a little funky with that square as the lume dot. Maybe harrowhead shape, like the one for the Halios Delfin as an example. If you want other kind of hands I personally would opt for a shape like the sword hands of the Omega SMP.
Other then that, I agree that the watch should have an option for the bracelet. That is actually one of the reasons I ended up selling the SAS Air watch. However a possible solution could be to make the lug space flat. straight rather then curved, so that any straight ended bracelet could just work and you (Graeme) don't have to sit there and work out the whole thing. This would give one the option to have whatever bracelet he wanted as long as it was straight ended, and more cool looks.
The case could even be modified more toward the cushion case type, like 6309 style to keep the short lugs but add the option of easy bracelet and strap fitting.
This is by far the best design for me.

I'll add;
The "SAS" logo would look better printed in the same white as the lower text. The shiny chrome logo on the Sea-01 was really the only thing I didn't care for on mine. I thought it detracted from the higher end appearance of the dial.
I definitely think the balance of the no-date dial is best, but if one must put a date, I'd ditch the white outlined date window. I think the outline draws the eye to that border and makes the date more difficult to read.

Re: New design, thoughts and opinions...
I have been playing around with the endlinks today, and finally settled on this. I still have to talk with my bracelet guy to make sure they can get it exactly as drawn but this is the idea.

To echo what others just said; that version looks worked out and squared away. Very nice.
