New SAS Rubber Strap

Post by CGSshorty » Tue Jul 02, 2013 1:31 pm

I thought you guys might like to see some good photos of the new SAS OEM rubber strap the Graeme will be releasing any day now. I am a crap photographer so you will have to go elsewhere for good photos. This is the final production strap, not the prototype I have shown pictures of before. It is easily Isofrane quality and will look good on any watch with 24mm lugs.

Looks great! I will have to try it out.

Does it taper in width/thickness/both?

I wore it at a GTG and it's a great strap, easily comprable to the ISO in quality. Graeme did a great job with the details, like making sure the holes are close enough to get a perfect fit, and tapering it a bit so it's comfortable underneath your wrist.

It would be great to have it available in 22mm

Both huge for me when I choose a strap too.

It is 24/22 and tapers from 6mm thick at the lugs to 4mm through the holes and 3.3mm at the tip.

I won't speak for Graeme, but I don't see it happening unless SAS produces a watch with 22mm lugs.

Contact Graeme by DWC PM. I think you will be happy with the pricing.

High quality screw in buckle. It is identical to the ones UTS uses on their rubber and GSD straps.

Ah ha!
I was wondering why all the sudden PMs  The straps actually arrived today so I thought some of you guys were hiding in the bushes or something hence the PMs

Thanks for posting this Chris.

Ok here's the deal, the price of the new strap is €50 including standard postage, normally just takes a few days. Or you want FedEx it is €25 extra. This will be the price on my site when I get it working properly again. (Some new server BS effecting log in)

The good news is there is a special DWC only price of €40 including standard postage. (Must have at least 200 posts count on DWC) and you may order via PM and PayPal invoice.

More good news the price is the same for either stainless steel or PVD buckle.

And even more good news for the DWC MOD team is they get a free one each. Master Wu and the guys here who look after us and keep us in our place deserve a small treat now and then, so if any of you guys want one let me know.

If any of you have seen Chris lately at any GTG and seen the straps you will see there were two versions. I had originally made it with cut outs on the underneath side to help with flexibility etc but they did not turn out the way I had planned so instead of producing them I remade the moulds from scratch and removed the cutouts and gave it small ribs instead, I also rounded the edges more and made it slightly thinner under the wrist. The keepers were also slightly too thick so they were remade too. So it turned out to be double the cost to manufacture but I think it was well worth it. I haven't taken mine off yet, it is the most comfortable rubber strap I have worn to date.

So if you would like one simply send me a PM and include your name and delivery address and your PayPal email and I will send you a PayPal invoice and get them out to you all as soon as I possible.

Regards
Graeme

I saw the proto-type strap on Chris's SAS back in May, when Gordo and I were down in NYC for that weekend of debauchery.

The prototype was of outstanding quality and the adjustments that Graeme outlines above will make it even more outstanding.

Congrats on a great strap, Graeme. I will be ordering one in the near future, once I have recovered from the frenzy of AEs, the PAM and a couple of suits ...

Regards,

James
