More pics of my Classic II

Post by matt.wu » Mon Jun 10, 2013 11:34 am

Really happy to have re-acquired one directly from Graeme. Price between new and used is so minor that I just decided to go new again. I really am glad I have one again. Originally, the size was a bit of a worry for me, but on the right straps, the perceived size changes quite a bit. My favorite so far is Micah French Canvas. Mine is nice and broken in.

This really is such a unique watch. The aggressive styling (both size and design) really fits in well with a lot of the other more conservative pieces in my own watch box.

Love the watch and combo--so does it fit like a 44 Panerai?

I'd say it actually wears a tad bigger than a PAM Sub (others can chime in here) since the lugs are slightly flatter. Additionally, I think the angular design contributes to a little more presence.

It's just on the edge of what I'd consider wearable on a daily basis, and wrist shots don't always convey a true sense of it in person, but I like the way it wears for what it is. Big watch, but it's supposed to be.

Here are some older wristshots from my Sea-01 LE.

Thanks Matt....It certainly has presence.....

Really like it on the French Canvas....The smooth rubber strap
that Chris has worn his on is pretty solid as well...

Love it-strap is well matched IMO.

BTW-I like the tile at your new bathroom vs. old one a lot better :)

Glad you got that back. I've been wearing my on a Micah French Canvas as well for the past week. Way too comfortable.

Congrats Matt, a really great watch for sure. I sold mine to fund other stuff, but I'll have another one day. I think one of these on a Simona Bruno Allegrini limited edition strap would be killer!

Interesting:

How does it compare to a 243?

I think it wears similarly. The 243 maybe a taaaaadddd smaller again due to the angular design of the SAS. Probably imperceptible in person though. Here are more bad wristshots.

I think it wears very similar to the 243. The 243 is all curves and soft lines while the SAS is all hard angles so it might make the SAS wear a little larger. It isn't noticeable on my wrist though.

I probably won't spend on another Panerai, but I can't wait to own another SAS

Beat me to it. :shifty:
Nice to see it on the wrist, Matt. Good to know if I want to try one down the track that I actually have a chance of pulling it off.
