Re: A real man`s bag
What a coincidence. I've been looking at new carry-on travel bags for the past month. I've been using
a tattered Mexican leather bag I picked up in Tijuana about twenty years ago. I finally decided on this
one by Alberto Belucci:
It arrived, but to my chagrin it's about twice as large as my old bag, and could probably hold my 14 year old
son (if I broke a few bones!). I sent it back on Thursday and ordered this one from Hammacher Schlemmer,
which is a bit smaller than my current bag, but more ergonomic. Should arrive Wednesday. My wife says it
looks like her purse, but I never listen to her anyway. Jimmy crack corn...

Preparation the cowbiker way...always test on obscure, small area for discoloration, texture, etc. before committing to treating your stuff.
I like Sno-seal and hair drier to set, then buff it with a shoe brush, but it does darken and make the surface smooth/polished, all of which I am okay with.
Re: A real man`s bag
I carry this manbag everywhere i go over my left shoulder.
It carries my wallet, folding knife, flashlight and my heater. No one has called me any names....at least to my face.
And in case you guys start
p.s. not my pic

This is the bag I usually have with me. Fits my iPad and other gadgets.
I have a bigger one for my laptop as well.

That bag is awesome Ken! I am going to buy a wallet since it's like the only thing I have money for, love the backpack though .

It does have a nice strap.
I have a wallet. Thats it. Oh, and pockets to carry shit in. I had to take a carry on, for my laptop, with me last week . . . I don't want to carry shit anymore. If I can't put it in my pocket or stuff it in my suitcase, it stays home.

Re: A real man`s bag
I got a gorgeous leather "doctor's bag" with brass hardware from Lange & Sohne as a gift last year. I don't use it much but it's good for a weekend's worth of clothes. It smells wonderful and the opening and closing mechanism is fun to play with. Plus, it's as close as I'll get to owning a Lange.
Next week I'm driving up north to tour Duluth Pack, the hundred-plus year old bag-maker in the Zenith City on Lake Superior. Writing them up for Gear Patrol and am going to test out one of these:

That Filson stuff looks pretty interesting - I've got a lot of bags, but a canvas one I do not.moishlashen wrote:I've had a Filson canvas bag for a while-awesome bag

FILSON
Hey Matt, check out the Filson luggage pages. Their stuff is bad ass. Expensive, but you only by Filson once. I've got hunting clothes I bought over 10 years ago that are still fully serviceable. I have one of their medium duffles as well and it rocks.

What the?!
I've known Dave for like YEARS. I've bought one of just about everything he sells. In fact, I've had a few one-offs and protoypes along the way. That's why it's so hard to part with one of them. I've got some up for sale, hoping to sell one and keep the other. He's good people.

This is what I use everyday...Maratec Range Bag (mine is black)
It seems plenty "manly".

This Bailout bag goes with me in each car I'm in.... trunk to trunk.
Loaded for Ammo, foul weather and first aid. It has saved my ass many times... Flashlights, flexcuffs, batts, ponchos.....I don't carry it around though....

Re: A real man`s bag
I actually have both of the bags posted by Doug and Bill. Cool, purposeful, relatively inexpensive bags. I actually use mine for the exact same thing, Bill. Bailout bag in the trunks of my cars (except I keep separate ones in each car). The composition of the contents varies slightly from yours, though

Re: A real man`s bag
Is anybody else disturbed by the prolific talk of "which bag do you have?" "Which bag looks best?" I mean it sounds like a bunch of hatchet wounds sitting around sipping wine coolers comparing which designer hand bag they have....the only "man bag" I own is hanging between my legs. It has just enough room to hold two batter factories. If you guys didn't cut holes in your pockets for easy access you could maybe use those instead of looking like you came "straight" from the Castro with a "pretty bag" on your shoulder.
But...what do I know?
