Anyone else addicted to Etsy?
I’ve bought a lot of meaningless but really cool shit from them over the last two years. About four dozen old resin dice and two vintage leather cups for a song (turned some dice into lanyard beads), lots of really cool bespoke jewelry for the wife which doesn’t come close to breaking the bank (dendritic agate and jade in cool settings), lots of titanium beads which is where I got the custom VW beads (ti creatures), currently a cool Westinghouse micarta wedding band with polished Ti insert as a gift to myself for our 15th anniversary from Apollosrings.
I’ve actually done so much Etsy business I’m currently in the midst of my first dispute which I intend to have another Etsy member fix.
Best one so far was a very cool vintage platinum set star ruby ring I got for $250 sold as sterling setting. When I got it I realized there was a .950 marking on the inside of the band and that the star ruby itself was premium.

Reach down between your legs and check for man parts. Do it now.

Even my wife doesn’t buy stuff off there.
Re: Anyone else addicted to Etsy?
I got a cool handmade box to hold some of my knives for like $20 on there.

I know.
Wouldn’t say addicted but have made about ten really cool purchases over the last couple years.
A lot easier to drop $500 all year long on the Mrs. on cool custom jewelry she’ll accessorize with (typically semi-precious stones or unique cabochons) where you’re making it unique with correspondence from the maker vs. your typical diamond ring every milestone.

I've bought a few straps off Etsy. Also looked at airbrushed "Dodgers" sneakers for my wife, but haven't bought those yet. Are there other good sources for airbrush-detailed shoes?

It’s nothing special, but it does the job and I like the really soft lining they used. I had been looking for something to store the knives I rotate the most and was about to buy a “jewelry” box before I came across this. I could do without the whole sword theme pin on the top, but whatevs. For just under $20 it meets my needs. Fits four knives or watches.

Looks nice! I need to find something, I've been using the cheap machinists chest I bought from harbor freight but it's pretty big so it stays down in the storage room in the basement, I'd like to have something a little nicer and smaller so I could maybe talk talk the wife into letting it be upstairs on my dresser lol

Yeah, lots of cool stuff on etsy you could find to suit you and probably a few guys that would make one custom to your specs.tyd450 wrote:Looks nice! Not addicted, but I've bought a handful of things off there over the years. A watchbox, scotch decanter and beverage cart are the most recent ones.

Cigar boxes work well and look cool to boot.tyd450 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 6:30 pmLooks nice! You can usually find a local cigar shop and ask to buy some boxes, then you can line them however you wish, or not at all. My local cigar shop used to have a rack of cheap boxes (now closed) that I used for watch straps/bracelets & strap changing hardware, another for EDC stuff, gun tools, and another for knives.
Buddy turned me on to the idea as he makes cigar box wall clocks and cigar box ukuleles.
Anyway, here's the wedding band I bought myself for my 15th anniversary... Thought it would be fun to switch-up my 14k WG band. I've wanted a 18k yellow gold band for years and figure this is a good cheaper alternative.
Same striped Westinghouse micarta (big fan of vintage butterscotch and ivory phenolics) but with a polished Ti liner instead of copper. Actually preferred the vintage vibe of the copper but know my son has sensitive skin (like his mother) if I intend to pass it down someday.
