Dunhill Lighter info
Hi
Hope this is the right place and hopefully some knowledgeable collectors here. Just got this lovely Dunhill Lighter and looking for some info if anyone can help. It's from around 1973 and gold but unsure if solid gold. The striker doesn't seem to do anything. I have read Dunhill lighters can be very collectable. EBay has them anywhere from £18 to £120.
Worth restoring and anyone in UK who could do this?
Cheers

Re: Dunhill Lighter info
My brother has had a couple dunhill lighters, and I actually used one of his a few weeks ago when I was at his place. I’ll ask him if he knows anything about the vintage ones.

Nice lighter. Is there a hallmark?
Re: Dunhill Lighter info
You may need to put a flint in the small tube. Usually spring fed. Check to see if it needs butane also.

Sorry I can’t help- he actually has DuPont lighters.
I actually had a dunhill piper lighter once. It took a small flint tube. You can go to pipesandcigars.com and get replacements

Yeah, that. I think I saw a Dunhill similar to that one a while back. If memory serves, it takes a proprietary flint, shorter and fatter than the Zippo standard.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Thanks guys. There is no hallmark so I guess just plated. There is a pop out section for flints and looks like a specific size. Found some exploded diagrams online as well as repair kits. These lighters are referred to as the Cadillac of lighters. I am looking forward to fixing this one up and getting it working again.

My dad had one of those for most if not all of his adult life whilst he was a smoker.
