Fake wood burning stoves?

Post by Heuerville » Wed Jan 24, 2018 4:32 pm

OK.. this is an odd one..

I'm not after a gas fire with fake flame effect.. I wondered if there are fake wood burning stoves that has one of those flame effect lightbulbs inside - completely for decoration, and not for heat, not hooked up to a chimney.

It doesn't matter what I search for on Google, the results are all proper gas stoves with fake flames, and a price tag to match.

Do such fake 'no heat' stoves exist?

Like these things? I think you'll be hard pressed to find one that doesn't give off heat, but electric only certainly exists. One of the houses I rent all the time in upstate NY has one that turns on with a remote, it's great. Although it has the potential to put a damper on the romance if you can't find the clicker.

Unfortunately, that link won't work for me, as it detects I'm in the UK, and auto-redirects.

However, I'm after something completely fake.. no heat, just for aesthetic effect. The thing doesn't even need to be metal!

Does this link work? https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/G ... oduct.html

This has the option of using with or without heat and is US$60. Try googling "amish fireplace".

Cheers bud, that link does work.

But... damn, those are FUGLY!

I think I'm gonna just find a broken/non-working stove, and stick a flame effect bulb in it!

What about looking for an old thrown out stove and fix it up and make it look new again. It would make a nice feature.

And put the screen showing firewood inside the rebuilt stove

This is the plan, and fit a 'flame effect' light bulb inside

I must be missing something here. As I read it, you just want something that looks like a stove with a lighted log effect in it?

Try googling "duraflame heater" they’re everywhere around here, all the big box stores have them. You can leave the fan/heat off and just let it flicker away in the corner. We got one on sale once for maybe $50 bucks.

We have one, but I never got round to connecting up a chimney so it's ornamental.
It's a new one, but is this the idea?Image
